Default Oil leak

My sisters 96 civic has an oil leak which I suspect could be because of the oil sending unit but there seems to be plenty of oil spray around this peice and I'm not so familiar with these engines any help with what the greenish sensor sitting down a little bit connected to the block is? Well can't get the picture in but it's right behind the alternator pretty easy to see. By the way it could be the sending unit itself which would be great I just don't know where they are on this engine.

Ex knock sensor would make sense I've been reading around about different hondas and seems most sending units are by the oil filter is this true for this car since I don't really know what engines I was viewing I think this year would have a d16y7 or 8 Is that correct?

A leaking oil pressure switch or oil filter would seem to make the most sense.

yeah i think you are describing the knock sensor. but there is no way it can leak oil.

when you get looking.. i'd check out that pcv system. (black box on the back of the block)

best thing to do is to clean everything off with some brake cleaner.. wait for it to dry. then drive a day or two and see what's wet with oil.

just make sure you let it dry.. if you spray it on the alternator and start the car, things may get a little bbq'd
