B20 engine... No ****! This will decimate all after a few grand and if we have to, over night parts from JAPAN! Be sure to put it on the tab at Harry's!

Okay well right now i have no car due to engine blowing up lol, but i got a job were i can car pull with a buddy and he said he will let me ride with him to work intill i fix car. So i can save quite a bit but i just would like to put a motor in and do the major work to the motor later on. So You are saying a b20 would be a good base motor?

B20's are decently priced and honestly, i wish i would've gone with one, but i already started spending money on my B16.

B20 longblock: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-01...Q5fAccessories

B18: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-I...Q5fAccessories

B16: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-95...Q5fAccessories

My .02? Get a B20, and put a B16 VTEC head on it. You'd have more power than you know what to do with. Plus it would be pretty decently priced.

B20Vtec!!!! 200+ WHP and 150+ lbs of Torque are very easy to extract from a budget setup. PM me if you have questions.

Agreed, B20 IMO. Everything is based on your budget though. B20's would most likely be the cheapest. They are here anyways. You going N/A or FI later for more power?

You will want to spend as much on suspension work if you want it to handle like it's supposed to.

A B20 is a an exact copy of your B18A1 swapping wise. Everything that was on your B18 setup should bolt straight up to the b20. Only differences between the two blocks in this case is the bore size. your ls has an 81mm bore, the b20 has an 84mm bore.

I''m sorry, but after having both of these engine setups in civic's, a B20 makes much more power than a B16A, much more tq, much broader power band, and if it's a B20Z, it makes even more

I would say go with a B18 but only because i live in california and i dont see the point in putting the Prelude motor in my car. If i were to do it i would get the B20 out of the CRV but that cant be Reffed in california. So LS/VTEC is what im doing.

Prelude?? we are "not" talking about that weird odd ball B20A, it's not really a b series, nor does it fit a civic or integra....so get that out of your head

It's true, in strict places like Cali, you can't swap a truck motor into a car....but most places in north america, this is not an issue. So the B20B and B20Z is an awesome choice

From a california stand point the B20a is the only option we have and keep it legal somewhat. A B20a will fit in a civic or integra. That is like saying you absolutely can not fit a K series in a civic or integra but we all know that isnt true. If your willing to put work in anything is possible.

^^ gimme a break, nobody is going to waste their time with problematic B20A with wacky cylinder walls, known to fail, not make much power, not have a single mount fit with no mount kits available, then the issues with the tranny, axles and custom wiring.....NOBODY does it!

We are talking about a daily driver here, not a drag car and i still wouldnt put a b20 in a drag car but if he wants something easy, fun, and reliable go with b16 or b18. plus there alot easier to find parts for if something breaks

drag car...what? where did that come from? Look, a B20 cost less than a B16 and makes more power, it's super easy to drive on the street and very very convenient, there is no down side.

Parts are easier to find??? Once again, i don't get where you are going with your comment. The B20B/Z shares 95% of the same parts as any B18A/B...so i am not sure what you are talking about, parts are "everywhere!"

well parts are not everywhere in maryland and yeah your right about it costing less but making more power? what b20 are u talking about, a b16a3 makes 160? has vtec and revs to like what 8,200rpms and has a high compression ratio. all im saying is in my opinion a b16 would be funner then a b20

Did you miss the fact i own "both" of these setups? Just because the B16 has higher compression means nothing!! Oh, and funner is not a word

- a B20 has power right off of idle, not gutless like a b16. So what if the B16 rev's higher, if you shift earlier in a B20 guess what? you come into the power band in the next gear again too, think about it

- the B20Z i ran in my civic makes gobs more power than the b16, way more. It like other b20's are under rated from factory, have you ever seen the exhaust manifold design on a stock b0? nobody ever runs one, they can run a stock b18 manifold or any header and pick up 12-14hp and another 8ft lbs tq. On a B16 or b18 that already has the better manifold design, usually a header adds only a couple of hp

- the b16 makes 160hp for how long? oh yeah, a little hiccup at 7500rpm, the rest of the rpm, power is way down. take a look at the larger b20 and you will see power from idle to 6200...the power band is "broad".......do you see what i am getting at yet?
