1991 CIVIC SI B16A3 PASSENGER AXLE STUCK!! PLEASE HELP!
HEY WHATS UP GUYS? I HAVE A 1991 HONDA CIVIC SI WITH A B16A3 SWAP. THE PASSANGER AXLE IS STUCK IN THE TRANNY AND I CANT GET IT OUT!! I HAVE DONE ABSOLUTLY EVERYTHING I KNOW TO DO SO NOW IM ASKING FOR HELP FROM YOU GUYS. I HAVE FINNALY CUT THE BOOT AND REMOVED THE AXLE AND JUST LEFT THE HUB IN THE TRANNY. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW THE SNAP RING WORKS IF ANYONE KNOWS.
SO IF ANYONE HAS ANY RECOMENDATIONS IT WOULD REALLY BE HEALPFUL. IM ALL EARS. TAKEING OFF THE TRANNY IS MY LAST RESORT, BUT I AM NOT 100% SURE IF I CAN DO THAT. THANKS FOR YOU HELP GUYS.
Pry at it with a big flat head or pry bar it will come out they are just a bitch to get out some time keep at it. Belive me it will come out. Sooner or later. Ps. Put some musle into it
Agree'd.............but if youre too desperate, go get the shortest ball joint separator you can get (the one that looks like a big tuning fork). I think you can rent them at autozone, or whatever auto parts store that rents tools.
Yup that works to I. Got a cheap ball joint separator from harbor freight. And used some steel pipe that I had to spread the forks apart farther. Stick it between the tranny and axle givie it a few good wacks pops right out works like a champ it only coast me 9 dollars lol
If you have the other side out, you can get a punch, or something similar, and try to punch it out from the other side. But usually do what everyone has mentioned so far using a pry bar. good luck
Unless its a lsd tranny you can't hit it out from the other side. Cuz the non lsd trannys have a pin going threw the diff so a punch will not fit threw...
Hey whats up guys! I went ahead and did everything you guys said EACH!! even got the fork bar from autzone! lol 8 bucks to rent it. I hammered the **** out of it so good that my car on 4 jack stands wanted to tip over!! Definatly used all my strength! and im not a weak guy! Im a 6 foot 4 jarhead lol! Not tooting my own horn but theres no way this should require this much strength! So ive pulled the tranny off and now am am still trying to get the sucker out! Anyone have any ideas from this point? Let me know!!! And thanks again for the info!! AGHHHH!!!

Thanks for all your help guys!! I ended up pulling the tranny off as I told you guys and in regards to getting a new tranny, lol This one has a Wave trake LSD BRAN NEW. New gears 1 through 5 with a new type R 4.7 final drive. After I went to a shop called InlineFour in Garden grove where I got the LSD from, they said that WAVE TRACK LSD's have had this problem before and they gave me the information for the manufactorer in, and on monday I will take my whole transmission with the stuck hub in it to that place, and see if they can fix it, and stand behind their product. Ill let you guys know what happens! So anyone dealt with inlinefour before? Good bad or otherwise? Let me know, also anyone know whats up with wave track lsd's?

Hey whats up guys sorry for th late reply. I ended up takeing my WHOLE FREAKING TRANNY to the manufacture of the LSD ( wavtrak ) they DESTROYED my axle hub as they had to literaly drill it out starting with a small bit going bigger and bigger till the materia gave way. They told me the LSD was ok but the gears where the axles go into they replaced at no charge. I ask them "WELL WHAT ABOUT MY AXLE! " Its anywhere from 100 to 150 bucks for a used axle! They told me keep the reciept and we will work somthing out. So in closing if your thinking about getting a wav trac lsd keep in mind this could happen to you! Oh yeah and I had to replace the tranny main seal too! Money down the DRAIN!! We all know what thats like im sure!! Thanks again for all your help guys! It all helped me reach the point where I had to pull it off!
Good to kno info. I head the obx lsd diff have the same problems. Not all of them but some I hear mix reviews about the obx diffs some say there axles come out no problem some say they get stuck in. So its a shot in the dark with the obx diffs
