Default CRX Motor Transplant

I just bought a CRX for $250 that they said needed a motor. I dont think since the motor will still crank sometimes, which leads me to electrical. But either way what motors will drop right in without any modification needed? Reason I am asking is because I just need the car to start and run at this point. But if it needs a motor what can I use?

this is your first post so ill be nice to you...the search button is your friend. this toppic has been covered hundreds of times.

with that said... we need to know more about your car.
1, year, make, model and submodel. just saying CRX isnt good enough
2, What motor is in it now, is it DPFI or MPFI
3, Are you sure it has a stock motor in it or did someone already do a motor swap and it still looks stock to you

from here we can tell you what motor can be put into your car with no modification to what you have now, otherwise you will be faced with wiring or mount issuse

Sorry bout that, its an 88 CRX. The person said the motor has been swapped out with one from a older SI. I know the motor is not V-Tec. Its a 5 speed. I think its an SI. Its a MPFI motor.

To fully explain it, this is what happend before I bought it. First she clipped a curb with it and bent the sub-frame. Then she was driving it and the battery hold down bracket came loose and got into the cooling fan then the fan seized and the car shut off. It will crank sometimes. But even push starting the car wont fire. So im wondering if it didnt send a surge through the wiring into the ECU and fry the poor girl.

Check all your fuses I mean all of them every single one make sure they are all fine then check to make sure you got spark, fuel, and compression? Then go from there
