Default 2007 Civic SI brakes

Hey guys... I'm new to the boards.
Getting ready to change out the front and rear pads and rotors on a 2007 Civic SI.

I've been very happy with the performance of the OEM's. Was wondering what people thought about replacing with non-OEM parts... for example the Autozone parts. What do you guys recommend as far as brands, etc.?

I don't take the car out on the track and am hoping to get some decent life out of them.

Be prepared for constant noise / problems! I work for honda... we use ONLY OEM parts. If you decide to go with aftermarket parts, let us know how they wear / perform!

Get Bendix Import Quiet Pads, they don't make any noise, very low dust, just as good if not better than OEM. All other brands, are noisey and make lots of dust.
As for Rotors Bendix are good, but Brembo blanks is the best for the price.

What kind of BS is that? It's great you work for a Honda DEALERSHIP, but you don't have to be kissing their asses, too!! The Accord had their own brake problems. Don't put OEM parts an a f uckin' pedestal.

Back on topic:
A lot of people recommend Hawk pads. I, myself, got some Brembo blanks and Monroe ceramic pads.

After a bit more research, I'm hoping to go with Brembo rotors, but can't find any for the rear. Thoughts?

Rear brakes do very little, cheap ones would be fine for the rear.

brakes are brakes...its not a lambo its a civic. just never get the ORGANIC drum brake shoes. they suck. you have disc brakes anyways but just sayin

Stay away from AZ brakes. As a former looong time employee, Morse brakes are just crap. Noisy, dusty and they're too hard on the OE rotors. OE pads will do the best for your money. They're designed to work the best on OE rotors. There have been no issues on the Civic pads, either. If you plan on changing out to A/M rotors, then Hawk seems to be a popular choice with the Brembo rotors.

I have a new set of front pads taken off my 07lx coupe, at 300 miles if anyone wants them just pay whatever it is for shipping and the are yours.

Brembo blanks rotors worked great for me... lots of bite on them still and i've clocked over 10,000 km on them since installation!

Honda introduced the Civic Si Sedan for North America in 2007; previously, ... along with 4-piston Brembo brakes, and large cross drilled brake rotors.

Trust me i know ALL ABOUT the Class Action Lawsuit for the Accords.. i have to deal with it DAILY, customers being upset. I tell em they need to pay for it and they will be reimbursed. Some people deal with it, some complain. Apparently enough complained to cause the CAL to happen. I tell em "im not honda. Up until this CAL came to be we were instructed by honda to cover em under warranty. I drive a nissan now... Just cuz i work for Honda doesnt mean i need to drive one!

They would fade at the bottom of a moderately steep hill trying to hold a 3000 pound car at 50 MPH. Even when doing the temp lowering technique that truck drivers use of holding the brakes on for a second and scrubbing 5 MPH off and then coasting up to 50 and then back to 45, all the way down. It was ridiculous. They would fade in an emergency stop situation on the freeway after 1-2 seconds as well. I tried them back in 2004, thought they would be as good as the NAPA man said they would be, and for $69, thought they would be. I should have gone with the more expensive Carbotech's that I bought 3 months later for $99! Those lasted until 2008 and 75,000 miles. Great stopping power and the rotors that were on the car just came off in the summer of 2010. Worth looking into.

Yeah, it was my first time buying brakes. It was probably $10-$20 after rebate. It works for my driving, but the thing I hate about them is the brake dust. It's ceramic, but yet produces more dust than OEM. Probably going with Hawks next time.

So I just changed both rear break pads for my 07 Honda civic si coupe! My vsa and E-break light are on and stay on. How do I take them off???

The brake warning light isn't just for the parking brake, it also comes on if the reservoir is low or if you lose pressure in the system (such as getting air in the lines), and the VSA/VSC/TRAC etc lights will accompany it with an ABS issue, which can be loss of pressure, or something non-hydraulic such as an unplugged or damaged wheel speed sensor. Check the fluid, bleed the system, and look over your work for anything that was damaged or installed improperly. If everything seems fine after that and the lights don't go off, trying disconnecting the battery, as the DTCs that are stored may need to be manually erased.
