Default d16a6 to d16z6 swap

hey guys searched around and cant find the specific answers i need but if i missed it please direct me and i apologize. here is the deal. bought my 91 ef si with a d16z6 swapped in. after looking at it, the vtec is not hooked up. i checked on the parts that are there and found that the ecu and dizzy are from the d16a6 that was in it. question is what is the best route to go to make the vtec work? i was thinking the best route is to get the ecu and dizzy forthe d16z6 from a stock 94 civic ex/si and just wire it up. is that the best solution or for the same money/time is there a better way to go about it? im kinda new to honda so please dont throw too much code at me too fast..lol. dont really want to half *** it but this has to stay my cheap project as i have many others and this is just a daily driver. i just cant see having a vtec motor with no vtec. let me know what the best solution is or where to get the info if i missed it searching. thanks in advance

your solution is to get a 4 wire o2 sensor, d16z6 Distributor, p28ecu, and a obd0 to obd1 pigtail wire harness and start rewiring all that to make your vtec work.

so the p28 is the factory d16z6 ecu? and is it just the factory o2 for the z6 motor? dont care about the wiring. i got no problem wiring it up. long as i can find schematics

yes p28ecu is from the d16z6 engine, and 4 wire o2 sensor can be from a civic, integra, prelude, accord as long as its obd1 or obd2.

ok so then the best route to go is just get the stock ecu, dizzy, and o2 from a car with the z6 motor and wire it up?

Is running a vtec controler not a good idea? dont understand them completely but i guess they only engage the solenoid? and then fuel and timing are not adjusted?

sorry for all the questions but like i said im a little new to the honda thing, but have plenty of mechanical knowledge, just need the honda specifics

thanks

If u get the wire harness from rewire.com, you will only need to wire the o2 sensor and wire up the distributor, everything else is plug n play. Ditch the vtec controller, get the ecu chipped and tuned properly for best result.

cool ill do that. shouldnt really need much tuning for now, really just a stock z6 but it should be pretty peppy in an ef. not looking for a super fast car in this one just want a daily driver with enough power to have fun on the back roads when im commuting
