Default F22B SOHC V-Tec ID'ing....

Hey guys!

I picked up a nice little 94 Accord LX with a F22B SOHC V-TEC/Automatic that was said to be swapped in last year. It is my understanding that the 94's never came with a V-Tec. Question is when I go to order tune up parts or anything engine related from the auto parts store, what car and year do I tell them since the 94 never had a v-tec??????

Engine Pad is Stamped with:
F22B

That F22B came from the JDM Accord 2.2Vi (CD7). It's a SOHC VTEC engine.

If you look at the head stamp (see picture), you can tell me what model year it is from.

All 94-97 Accord will come with a VTEC or a Non VTEC SOHC engine depending on the trim(EX, LX, or a DX).

Just tell the parts guy what your trim model Accord is and it should list in their computer system that the car has VTEC or not.

Thanks guys!

Ahhhh... I thought the 94 didn't have the V-Tec option, but glad to hear it to keep things a tad simpler.

Oh and thanks for the pics Kronn, I went outside to check my head but the heat shield is covering up the stamp and it's dark already. But I am curious to ID it though. I'll check it out this weekend and post a pic up.

Yeah, where Kronn circled tells you the year as well as that picture shows that its a '97 engine.
