1995 Accord RPM's violently "Spike"
I have a Honda Accord, Automatic Tranny, 220,000+. When I am accelerating from I believe 2nd to 3rd gear (roughly 20 to 35mph), the my RPM's suddenly spike up or second. This also seems to happen when I am accelerating out of very hard Right-Turns....particularly onto a local Freeway on-ramp for example unless I do it very slowly.
The car runs very well otherwise and doesnt shift too hard. Good power and gas mileage.
It did this right after I bought it and I had the Tranny fluid replaced immediately in April of 2010 and it didnt change anything.
Is it my Clutch? Full Transmission going out? Or something else.
Thanks,
LN

Does it seem like the transmission to you? A lot of the 5th gen Accord automatics did not have much problems. Otherwise, if it is just the tach jumping, it could be the distributor, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), or the tach circuit board.
The car shifts fine otherwise and has great power on and off the Freeway.
It's the "violently spike" wording you are stating to kind of make me think this may not be a transmission problem. Check the VSS connector, which is located on top of your transmission. Make sure it is tight.
