1990 Hatch Starts but won't Run
ok all, totally stumped. my 90 hatch (d15b2) has been kicking my *** for a few weeks now. It'll crank but won't start. I replaced the ICM and it worked for a while. now, nothing. put a new coil in, nothing. I have compression, fuel and spark
just did a coil this morning, no avail. i had my firing order wrong (somehow) so i fixed that, now it will sputter a little but still just dies. won't run on starting fluid. new cap and rotor, fresh wires (2k miles ago) had the ICM tested at autozone. checked out fine. main relay is fine and fuel pump is working. 45 psi of fuel pressure. i've tried with 2 different working ECU's , no check engine light (shuts off after 2 seconds like normal). mechanical timing is right on. could i just need a new dizzy? i'd really appreciate any help, i've never been this stumped.

Wow this seems like the exact same thing that happened to my friends car. It had spark fuel and compression. Timing was dead on. Couldn't not figure it out for the life of us well we solved by throwing the motor in the trash and converted his car to mpfi and swaped a b18a1 in and runs strong now lol
Currently this is my exact problem too. No joke. Replaced Fuel pump last week hoping it was that, wasn't. Checked main relay worked 100% fine, even looks like it was recently replaced because it wasn't even screwed into the chassis from previous owner, ahha. Brand new ZC, timing is on. I parked, came back outside, doesn't start. Spark fuel is fine too. Only thing I'm not too sure about is the ECU, it has 1 quick red flash LED then nothing. Is it supposed to blink constantly while on "ON"?
I know the code is for o2 sensor. But it only blinks once really quick right when you turn the key into the ON position, then nothing. No blinking at all what-so-ever. It does NOT blink again after that. No Check Engine light either. Once you turn the key to Off again then it blinks once really quick and stops. So I don't think it's for o2 sensor.
The single blink on obd0 just means "hello,I'm working" mine does this too, and the check engine light is supposed to do exactly what it's doing, turning off after 2 seconds or so. There's no code stored in your ECU

Hey guys, my problem was similar but the car died on the highway. I was running about 70mph when all of sudden loss of power. It will crank, spark and fuel was present but it would not catch. Random codes would pop up and a reset, of the ECU, different ECU, re-set mechanical timing, checked out the ignitor and coil and still wouldnt start.
Last thing I checked was the rotor screw. In a sealed, distributor gaskets and all, that dangnubbit screw vanished! Replaced the screw and it fired up on the 3rd try

that worked for me the first time. this time, i needed a new distributor. turns out the O-ring that seals the distributor shaft into the valve cover was bad, and the inside of my dizzy was coated in gunk. new distributor was success, after replacing and checking almost everything that would make these symptoms happen. Nooch, I wish you the best of luck.
