Default Rear Tire pressure?

Just wondering about ideal tire pressure with street tires for fwd.

I understand stiffer rear springs/suspension - only referring to rear tires..
Lets say tire pressure is supposed to be 33psi cold on the street. Most likely higher pressure would help with trap speed.

What about the launch, is it better to lower/higher rear tire pressure?

I run my rears at 60psi. I suggest you run then at maximum recommended. Helps launch and lower rolling resistance due to smaller contact patch.

put the pressure on the rear tires only to the recommended maximum tire pressure.
it really wont do any much good if you dont have the right suspension anyways.
it will be unsafe if you are pumping it up to more than its max recommended Psi

so maximum tire pressure on the rear tires help launches in conjunction with lower tire pressure on the front tires.. am i correct?

ya but your normal 35psi to bumped up to 50-60psi at the track wont matter if the suspension isnt good.

i wouldnt even touch the rear tires, just check them at least see that theyre not flat.

55-60 psi in the rear.

Worth a tenth on normal 15-16" street tires.

Also running 155/80/13's @ 60 psi worth another tenth or two.

See how easy that .2 was to drop? Start adding all the little things up, see why I run the way I do.

My street setup.....
15x7 Prime 119's + Sumitomo 195/50/15 HTR4's = 37.0 lbs
The skinnys, 13x5 stock steelies + 155/80/13 no names = 27.5 lbs

The slicks......
20x6x14 MT's on 14" stock steelies = 27.5 lbs
20x8x14 MT's on 14x6 TSW Alpines = 23.5

The wheels......
TSW 14x6 Alpine = 14.0 lbs.
Miata 7 spoke = 10.5 lbs.

The sick part, I paid $50 for 3 of the TSW wheels, and $20 for 2 of the Miata wheels. I need to have the centers bored out on the Miata wheels though.

I lose 46 lbs of the car by using my race setup, and could loose more when I use the Miata wheels.

BTW weights taken on a digital bathroom scale which is within 1 lb at 220 lbs.
I myself have lost 19 lbs (238 to 219) on my way to 199 lbs.

Remember the little things add up!

Im running the early series Miata rims all round. They weigh 12 1/2 lbs so they may be a different style to yours.

Rear: Miata rims + 185/60 x 14 = 27 3/4 lbs
Front: Standard 13 inch rims + 205/60 = 34 lbs

Coming soon:
Rear: Alloy 13 inch mags + 165/75 = 24 lbs
Front: Custom 8 lb 13 x 6 rims + 205/60 = 24 lbs

Yeah I'm on the wrong side of 200 too.....

PS: Sorry to hijack your thread...

I asked My Mechanic how I could drop some more weight off the car to get times down on the strip. I told him that since stripping the interior, and removing some un needed parts from the engine compartment, I have come down 4 tenths from my prev times. He stared at me and said go get back in the truck.

We were at the All You Can Eat buffet at Ryans. I was on my third plate.

I am at 250lbs now Got to trim that gut before trimming the car.
