96 ek swap
I have a 96 civic ex with a d16y7 nonvtec 5-speed. Before I go search and buy, what I need to know is what would be the easiest (least down-time, being this is my only car can't take longer than a couple days) and cheapest way to get a b-series engine to place in the vehicle. Also, I need to know what all HAS to be with it (ECU, Fuel-management, w/e, EVERYTHING that will make this as easy as possible).
I plan on it being a daily driver (and honestly don't care if it's vtec), I just want it to be a little more aggressive. It'll always be naturally aspirated, as too much work goes into turbo/super charging it, but cold-air, bigger throttle-body/intake manifold, and upgraded exhaust will eventually make its way onto it. After all the boltons I'd like to make somewhere around 150-175hp.
I know this might seem kind of vague, but anything will help.

I also will give u a vague answer.....
The easiest is whatever b series u can get first except b20a
As for all the parts u need and where to source them. Just read the faq

Under the section Swaps, it'll tell you all you need to know and more

Why bother? It's such a gutless engine.
If you're going to bother with a swap you might as well get a b18c1/c5
It will go in all the same and you'll have a much better engine that you'll be much happier with.
If you're worried about downtime I think you have more on your plate than to worry about which motor.
A good shop can knock it out in 8-10hrs probably with the necessary wiring if the swap is complete and you have every single part you need.
If you're an entry level grease monkey the swap might take you a whole weekend with the help of some friends.
