Icon6 Botched lower tube seal replacement

Hello all. About 5 months ago I performed an upper and lower spark plug tube seal replacement on my 93 accord lx using the write up from the FAQ. Everything seemed to go very smoothly.

However, several weeks ago, I went to check the condition of my plugs after a period of driving after having solved a vac leak problem. To my dismay, my spark plug tubes were filled with oil, and this time worse than before. All four tubes were filled, when only two were originally to blame. My lower seals had failed. And also so did all four upper seals. Every spark plug boot had a little isolated spot of oil on it near the top of the boot, right where the upper seal sits adjacent to it.

So one of two things has happened. Either I did something wrong, or I got crap seals. So I am posting to ask, Can one do this incorrectly? And if so, how? All I seemingly did was remove some o rings and put new ones in their places. What could I have possibly f'ed up? Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm definitely going to redo the procedure. But if I can, I'd like to have an idea of how this happened or if I did anything wrong so I can avoid it during the next attempt.

I have 92 honda prelude s. Mine also had spark plugs submerged in oil. I got a valve cover gasket set. And all has been fine since.

did you PPLIED ANY HONDA BONDA OR ANY TYPE OF SEALER TO YOUR LOWER TUBE SEALS? You are not supposed to apply any because thats what they are designed to do. to seal.... you should have some one else take a look at it because you dont want to f' up your engine...
