Default 1985 Civic AWD

Curious...
Anyone know if a manifold and distributor from a D series will bolt on an 85 civic engine OR
will a D series engine bolt onto an 85 trans, if so what clutch set up do you use.
have a computer and throttle body set up from D series....looking at an 85 AWD with carb problems...nice car...200K miles want to convert to injection.
thanks

The AWD Civic of that vintage has a tranny that will accept a D16A1 engine from the early Integra as a direct bolt on. The Integra clutch should work in the AWD tranny.

The 1988 and later D series is a completely different engine from the 84-87 Civic/CRX engine and nothing is common between the two generations.

I have an 88-89 D series with basic injection....I have a computer and wiring harness ...I think I could get the engine controller to work in that car... so...If I could use that engine or intake and distributor on the 85 engine...I could run a fuel pump and hard line...just a wild thought...guy I know has the wagon...pristine interior...with little rust... carb problems....don't want to deal with the Keiin or a weber ....so thus my inquiry...thanks

no need to PM me like you did. you asked a question. it was answered correctly by the first poster to come along. for some reason, you did not read it or you ignored it.

but what is confusing is what does swapping the distributor have to do with fuel injection? the 86-87 cars don't have electronic advance even IF they had fuel injection, they are all vacuum advance.

trust me, i can be much ruder and i have been in the past. i don't really feel like my post was THAT FAR out of line that you need to PM me about it and get on your high horse about how experienced you are compared to what you THINK i am..

this IS friendly forum if you choose to read responses that have to do with your topic. the most amazing thing about a web forum is that you can CHOOSE to ignore posts and continue reading the next one..

newsflash; you aren't going to get the responses you WANT to hear all the time here. there is much less BS here in the "classic" forum than there are others as there is much less knowledge about these older hondas. those that have been around a while know who to listen to and whose advice to seek. Scott's advice is ALWAYS sound.

as for the user "performance" there was no need for his addition. i hope you sent him a PM too instead of just me. i AT LEAST answered an un-answered question as to WHY the intake manifold won't work. did you even pay attention to that?

can't we all just get along here??

NOW, if you want to use an 88+ d series from a civic on your car, HASPORT has just created a mount kit for this to get it in the bay of a 2wd.. the wiring has been done. i will see if i can find some info on that if you'd like me to.
