It's just a filter man, and K&N is pretty reliable. Drop in the K&N and call it a day.

im also looking at the mod.... the spoon filter should work fine... as far as I know any drop in filter that works with the stock intake box should work fine... I was just wonderin if it'd be better to get a panel filter instead....

Your butt dyno won't notice the difference between a $400 Spoon sponge filter and a $50 K&N filter. Save your $ for other mods.

but that's just my .02.

Yes I realize that buying an expensive one doesnt matter.but id like one that I wont need to reoil or whatever but if it really.isnt a.hassle ill just buy a k and n at autozone
Im already not getting an aftermarket.intake period.so I can.buy.rh.instead
How much is a drop in.spoon filter?

Spoon filters can cost anywhere from $99 to $150 new depending on where you buy one from.

-_- let me make my question simple

Are there any good filters that fit into the stock box that arent oil based like k&n's?

I wanna avoid having to reoil prefer to just wash one off and put it back on

Online theres plenty of options(apexi, aem) but I cant tell by looking at a pic if itll fit into the stock airbox

Don't rock a filter... just by some screen lol

j/k K&N is a great company with a lifetime filter with great performance. It's also hidden in the box so now one can see so no reason for spoon bling.

It depends on where you live. I wash and reoil my filter every spring. I live in IL.

hm i took out the top half today and then i put it back after thinking a bit harder

should i spend my time doing hondata mod or find a comptech icebox?

what are the differences between the hondata mod and the icebox?

i've never seen good pictures of the icebox
or any information on it as to gains and whatnot

EDIT: ok fk it im just gonna mod the stock box get a k&n filter and get a new silicone hose for it... stop overthinking over a stupid intake

ok it depends on what you want
in airbox mod i felt a small difference but and better throttle response but its ok im not racing just for DD
and when you cut the middle wall just take extra care cause i accidentally cut through the wall but i fixed it up and about the ribs its easier to use pliers and snap it and remove all the ribs, and you can fabricate your intake host too if you wanted
but if you wanted more gain go with the icebox
simple as that lol

Yep I did exactly that except I sanded it down also
I figure as a dd its not worth spending money on an icebox. I just like to overthink alot which leads to indecisive-ness
Ordered a k&n filter on amazon as they were the cheapest even with shipping
Now to look for.replacement hoses and diy intake scoop n whatnot

I can finally move onto better things like shortshifter.raceheaders.hfp or mugen coilovers
Quick question:

Would getting an aftermarket muffler add any hp/torque and would it be loud?
I dont want to get the whole thing just a new shiny dual tip muffler like the megan axleback instead of the dull stock

Don't get an oiled filter. They suck. I see too many of them that clog up and dirty Mass Air Flow sensors and stuff. K&N knows that AEM's dryflow division was a threat and that is why they bought them out. Now all the AEM intakes come with K&N "dryflow" filters that are red just like a normal K&N filter. They are slowly phasing out the dryflow sector because it was taking K&N's market share.

I sell AEM intakes every day and all the new AEM intakes come with these K&N filters and they have little K&N logos stamped all over them.

I would run a stock factory filter before a K&N any day!

I wouldnt go as far to say they suck. An oiled k&n flows tons better than a stock filter. If a sensor was damaged it was probably due to over oiling.

But regardless an aem dryflow will be your best bet for a performance filter.

Well that would apply to us, if we had MAF sensors.

these were my intentions.... like I said nothings set in stone.... I was thinking a panel filter that covers then entire box....

but these were taken from my build thread on another fourm.... opinions welcomed, and I dont mean to thread jack, I just want to show the OP the route I may go.... with all these little gadgets you could probably find a icebox for the same price....

ok intake time, this is my vision, your input is welcomed, I can change paths, so nothings set in stone... either way it'll look nice lol.....

first I plan to shave the intake box of all the restrictions of air inside, the box, this one seems extremely sloppy, Im wondering if how much sanding Im going to have to do, seems like if you really take your time you can get it all completely smooth...

then I've was researching and found some carbon pieces that will direct cold air from the grill straight into the box... which seems would create a hell of alot more air flow into the box!!!

and as for the filter, Im not to sure what route I'm going to go, I wouldnt mind getting a spoon or j's is the route I think I may go... cant go wrong with name's and then I've been looking at intake tubes which Im sure I could find a cheaper one but j's and arc make a tube...
spooooon....

In also found one of the carbon pieces has a replica version made by vision
