Default Noob blew motor, need help please

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a 2001 prelude vtec model, and I'm new to the whole honda and car scene in general, and could really use some help.

I had a leaking radiator hose, and my engine over-heated on the highway, and now I'm told I need a new motor. It doesn't crank, and it has no compression.

I know you can probably point me in the direction of some threads that could help, so please feel free to delete this thread if need be.

My main question is, what exactly do I need to get my car running again? I've heard a lot about wiring harnesses, motor types, and ECUs, but I'm not exactly sure how to put it all together.

I could also use some help shopping for new motors, and if anyone has any reputable sites or places to check out, please let me know.

Any help is greatly appreciated, and I'm sorry ahead of time for any misconceptions I may have. Please help me though!

Thanks,

CamCam.

If you want to save $$$ you probably should go with the same engine that is in the car. A direct swap of the same engine is cheaper and less time consuming than swapping in a different motor.
If you go with the same engine maybe you can have some friends help and do the swap yourself. Save a bit of ching.

The website is exactly what I'm looking for, thank you.

But can anyone tell me what I'll need as far as parts goes? Obviously I don't need a tranny, but what about wiring harnesses, ECUs, etc?

I'm also having a shop swap the engine for me, since I have a lack of tools and mechanical skills/knowledge to do so myself. However, a lot of the shops I've talked to say that they won't do any work with a motor I buy. So I guess it has to be "certified" of some sort by them first. Would they go through a website like this? Or charge me out the *** and go with some bs so they can make more cash?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm just trying not to get jacked around my the stealerships and shops..

if its a standard then you should change the clutch, if not then if you buy a complete H22A4 you wont need to change any of the wiring.
