Default H22 feels sluggish

(posted in the All motor forum as well)

OK, after a dyno tune the car feels sluggish.

Setup
JDM h22
ported head, flat valves, s2 valvetrain, s2p1cams (degreed using max lift), s2 gears
black trax intake mani
70-65mm tb
hytec rep header

Car made poor power 198whp, 156 tq on a dyno jet.

A/F is 12.2 at WOT at 4k and tapers to 12.0 at 8k.

If I remember right the car is running 31* timing.

Vtec is set at 5600.

I can email the file if anyone wants to look at it.

Timing was checked and its right on.

Ideas?

Before the header and intake mani the car ran really well and loved to rev now above 6k or so it just feels like it is fighting to make power

Who tuned this thing. You set timing at 31 degrees?

Seems weird, stock timing calls for 15 degrees.

Also why are you running 12.5 af before 4k. You should be more like 13.0.

he is referring to the speed density tables, not base timing.

Have you rechecked the cam timing? If the intake cam is off, youll never know through ignition timing. I had an OBD1 Accord in the shop that ran weak. Fuel pressure, exhaust, timing all ok and no MIL. Turned out the distributor was causing the car to run sluggish. I installed a new sub-assy, problem fixed.

The same thing happened to me.
I have a h22a1 prelude with intake and exuast and p28 ecu.
It seemed to have alot of lowend tourqe but after 6000rpm it was so slow and the engine sound almost changed, sounded like it was trying so hard and someone was holding the ebrake. it was really slow.
Then I went and got my ECU chipped and dyno tuned and now its smooth power all the way untill redline
