Icon2 mini me 96 lx

Okay so my 96 civic lx has a d15b7 engine at the moment, however i came across a mini-me swap for a good price. Its a a6 with z6 head. My car still has the y7 ecu. Question is what all is involved in this paticular setup since its obd1 and factory y7 is obd2? I know i will need the ecu. I have a p08 is the map simalar enough to run this setup? Please any info would be appreciated.

If you have a '96 LX, then you have a D16Y7, not a D15B7....

Oh really. I thought the D15B7 stamped in the block was correct but thanks for clearing that up.

I don't know what you did to your car but the 1996 Civic DX/LX comes with a D16Y7 engine, not the D15B7. I don't even understand how that could pass emissions since that is an older engine, from another generation no less!

also since my car has a obd1 engine right now it should already have a conversion plug right? I would like to not buy an ecu just yet, will the p08 run it since its a jdm vtec ecu without throwing off the cars performance? I know a p28 would be best but if the p08 will work for now without damage ima use it. Thanks for the info man.

I'm not that familiar with JDM spec stuff but everything I just researched says it should work.

What about the plug, i should already have the obd1 conversion right? but my car still has the Y7 computer?????? I am kinda at a loss as to how i can figure out what all i am going to need since the prior owner did the b7 install after his y7 shot? Do i not have a conversion plug since im still running a y7 ecu? Plz any more info let me know. I assume the swap would be the same as runnin a full z6 swap. So what options do i have? do i have to change the harness too?

Are you talking about a step down harness? Should be pretty obvious if you are running one or not.

I'm sure if you were more patient you would have gotten more answers. Not so sure now.

If you still have the P2E ECU for the Y7 its possible whoever had your car just swapped the B7 in and swapped over intake and exhaust manifolds. The only wiring difference otherwise would be the CKF sensor by the crank pulley. Its possible they either bypassed this electrically or swapped over oil pumps, that is unless you have a check engine light which would possibly be for this sensor. To swap the mini me in wouldn't be that much of a problem especially if you used the P08 ECU. It's basically the same as the P28 except the P08 uses a one wire O2 sensor but the pin location is the same on the ECU. You'll just need an OBD2-1 ECU adapter. You'll also need to do some extra wiring for the IAT. If you plan on using the Z6 intake manifold you'll also need to convert from a 3 wire IACV to a 2 wire and run the VTEC wiring. You won't need the CKF or secondary O2 with the OBD1 ECU. PM me if you need any help.
