Default 1/4 mile times, what are people running

What would a s2k run in the 1/4 mile stock. Tell me your times and pics. I am interested to purchase one and want to know the average times and potential in building it.

They barely walk a integra type R from a standstill. They run like mid 14s to low, 14 flats if you drop the clutch at 8000 rpm and blow ure car after a few runs. Not too impressive get a 350z

350Z? Are you kidding me?

Do yourself a favor and buy an LS1 if you want impressive 1/4 mile times. They're cheap to purchase, cheap to modify and will eat most cars up at the drag strip. With the current state of modifications for the S2000 (Comptech/Vortech SC or SpeedCraft Turbo), I think the fastest 1/4 mile time is in the mid-12's. In an LS1, you can run high 12's with less than $1000 in mods.

Reconsider your thoughts on the S2000 - it isn't meant for the drag strip. On the other hand, if you enjoy ripping through canyon roads, autocrossing, or road racing, the S2000 will shine.

13.8-14.0 are good 1/4mile times for a stock S2000. If you are running over 14.0 seconds you probably haven't mastered your launch. Trap speed is about 99mph. These figures are assuming the car is properly driven.

If you are planning on buying a car for drag racing I would recommend something else entirely. The S2000 is designed for road courses not drag strips. If you want to drag race save the time and money and buy a Corvette.

You can build any car to do anything thing, knowledge and money are your only limiting factors.

If your running a 13.8 w/ a stock S, it was either built on a good day, or it was a dream. What are you launchig at to pull under a 14? Im not saying your lying, just interested. Ive heard of 14.2 on a perfect run. My best with my 02' is a 14.6 (my first and only track expierence), with only mod being an intake.

On http://www.s2ki.com, the concensus seems to be that average drivers will be in the mid 14's, good drivers in the low 14-second range, and exceptional drivers are good for high 13's. Of course, this all depends on weather/track conditions.

And at the same time why do people judge a car based on what it can do at the drag strip

motor trend recorded a 13.8. were they (and all their equipment) dreaming?

i'm not saying everyone will be able to acheive it, but it's clearly possible.

i've hit 14 flat without too much fuss, i think a better driver could do better.

I timed it once. 14.1s @ 96mph consistantly. 6500rpm clutch drop. ouch.

I am sorry but you either live up at the mountains (high sea level) or you'll
learn how to drive the s2000 better. My best is a 14.1s and I have seen
people over at s2ki hit 13.8s. Remember the magazine numbers are 13.8.
14.6 is not impressive on the s2k esp. on the '02 model (i heard the '02 makes
slightly more power than the 00-01 model) i have a 00 model.

You heard wrong about the '02 model. It doesn't make any more power than the previous ones. The only changes were rear glass window, upgraded stereo (w/ tweeters), slightly different tail lights, all-red interior, Suzuka Blue, Sebring Silver, and a slightly different (not necessarily better) suspension.

Most publications Ive seen, have the stock S at 14.2-14.4. I realize my 14.6 is underachieving, but most Ive talked to say the car wont get under 14 consistently(stock). Ill ask again. What are you launching at?

Who the hell told u the 02 makes more power!!!!!!!!!

the 350z is probably faster in the 1320 but who cares, its a horrible car(from the test drive i had). the s2k is superior when compared to the 350z, nissan quality control has gone down the drain the past couple of years. i had the opportunity to drive a sazuka blue 2k2 s2k and it was the incredible. the whole car was vey exciting, starting with the push button starter to the sweet shifting action(shifting is much improved than the 2000-2001 models), and finally to the impressive handling and engine note at 6000+ rpm. absolutely amazing, you guys are damn lucky to own a s2k.

14s are kinda low for a very expensive car like that......if you want to run bad *** 1/4 mile times just get a cheap, used hatch and build up the motor and turbo it,you will easily run in the 11s and 12s

02's are suppose to have something upgraded about their tranny.....I can't remember exactly but I know there is something a lil different, not very different but different. I think it is suppose to have smoother shifts, and the 1-2 shift grind is suppose to be less common in the 02's. I'll have to look it up but I'm pretty sure there is a slight difference b/w the 01 and 02 tranny.

Sure, and then take your first corner.....even if you built a hatch to run with the S2000 on a roadcourse -- you would have a front wheel drive car. FWD is IMO for retards and old women.
Don't you drive an ITR?

There was a guy at the drag strip this last weekend with an S2000 and a 15.5 dial in. I never actually saw him run.

I wanted to find him and smack him...

the 350z is probably faster in the 1320 but who cares
I wouldn't bet on it. I think the Stook would beat the Z on comparable runs.
