Catalytic converter
I'm new to the tuning world, I'm a mopar guy, so bare with me. I'm running a 1993 Honda Del Sol SI with the SOHC VTEC D16Z6. I'm looking at the DC Sports 4-2-1 one piece headers and the Skunk2 Megapower catback. But what about the cat? I haven't found anything worth buying, and I don't see the point in buying the headers and catback if the cat is still going to restrict flow. Any ideas?
Don't buy either. What are your goals for the car?
All those will do is make the car amazingly loud and obnoxious. You'll likely either lose power or just move what power you have across the power band.
D-series engines respond very poorly to naturally aspirated bolt ons.
If you follow through, don't get a straight pipe. It will only make the car sound worse and pollute the environment. You'll also fail emissions and likely have a check engine light on all the time.
High flow cats are fairly cheap. I got a replacement catalytic converter from summit racing for about $90.

I would like to get about 230-250+ whp out of the D16Z6 I have. I actually just started a thread in the "All Motor" section titled "Is It Possible?"

I have to admit I was about to waste that money than. So where should I turn my attention to in order to handle the turbo? I would like to leave the internals alone if at all possible but if not than thats alrite too. I figured a head swap with a DOHC. Any more ideas? If I go with a DOHC, what head will fit directly on the D16Z6?

no go check on your all motor post. the D is a single cam.
do some honda/turbo research. you may know about cars and the basics but its a good idea to know what your currently working on.
you'll hit your 250hp goal with a boosted d16 no problem. look in the forced induction section for help. as stated before without doing some internal work idk if you can hit 250hp. but 200 is possible.

Turbo is a different story, it will make those numbers easily.
Look at the vitra/eagal setup.
Friend was making 400+ on 26psi..
you can make about 220 on a stock block with turbo and a good tune and still be reliable. as long as u dont beat it all the time. 250 isnt even possible with a build d series. i think bisimoto would have done this by now since hes the king of d-series. you would be lucky to get 160-170hp with a N/A built d series. goodluck
i could see 250whp from an N/A D series. however you are gonna be on your own fabricating a stroker kit and boring that thing out as much as possible. rasing the compression to over 13:1 running on alky, and its gonna sound like a wet fart and ain't gonna idle worth a damn. but its possible....practical???? not really.
Well, when I started the thread in the "All Motor" section I didnt know any of this. After reading more on that thread I realize I will have to go with a turbo and honestly thats what I prefer, I love the sound of a good blow off valve.
Keep the turbo direction. I wouldn't waste your time/money with exhaust until you get your turbo setup ready to go. I would just get an axleback and have a custom exhaust done for that with a long resonator.
I just like saying this analogy:
Making 250whp on a B-series naturally aspirated is like eating frosted flakes with an extremely small spoon.
Making 250whp on a D-series naturally aspirated is like eating frost flakes with a toothpick and one eye.

^^ haha that is funny, I also agree with the custom piping.
Peiceing a turbo kit togher would likely be the best route if your on a budget.
Ebay is a great place to find Brand name turbo kit parts.
My friend's turbo kit was almost peiced togher just from ebay. he ran ebay pipes, tial waste gate, HKS Bov, garret turbo.(there was more, I just dont remember it all) The most expensive part was his Manifold, that he Had speedfactory make for him.
I also belive they are now offering turbo kits starting at $2600. But then that would leave you with a quite expensive shipping bill.
I would reccomend at least giving that a look, They do really good work there, and Ricky is a VERY good welder.
