Default Cluster LED Bulb - What TYPE?

I'm in the process of doing the LED Cluster conversion, but I can't seem to find anywhere, what TYPE of LED to use from superbrightleds.com.

I know I need 194/74 bulbs, but I need to know what TYPE of LED people are using to avoid getting hot/cool spots.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've had a lot of trial and error lately and the best results I've had has been with the 3 way led lights for the 74 bulb. I haven't resolved the 194 bulb issue I've got yet. I'll be ordering some more bulbs to resolve my problem soon and I'll be sure to do a write up.

As dim as mine are I wouldn't be too worried about hot spots, you can turn them down with the factory dimmer. Right now my problem is that it's too dim in some areas.

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid cool/hot spots. What type did you end up using for the #74's?
74-x,74-xHP etc. Just so I know.

Also, what 194's have you use'd that you're having problems with cool spots? There's a write up on another forum that has the soultuion to this if you want me to PM you the link, I can.

Also, my dimmer shat the bed, so I'm on the hunt for one.

I would appreciate that link. No real need to PM it. Honda-tech doesn't get too crazy with outside posts unless it's deliberate advertising for another company/website that hasn't been paid for.

I actually used http://www.autolumination.com/

For my 194 I used the 194 Goldstar Bulbs With Metal Heat Sink found: http://autolumination.com/194.htm

It's currently not working, I need to pull the cluster today and rerwist the metal sheath to make it work again. I was fiddling with it and it turned off. So hopefully I can report back with success, but I used a similar style bulb for the 74's and was extremely disappointed.

I switched to these Tri-Power 3 LED Bulb
found here http://autolumination.com/74.htm

And they're much better, but not perfect.

I'm not terribly sure if just switching to White bulbs would solve my problems. Not positive. But I think I'll try some orange bulbs again and we'll see.

They did just release a new 194 that has 3 leds on the side as well with the heat sheathe.

I'm pretty tempted to try out superbrightleds.com though. I've not had that much success with what I've gotten from autolimination.com. The dome light LED replacement I got from superbrightleds.com has been amazing.

From what I've read, no one has had any problems with superbrightleds, so that's what company I'm going to use. I just cant decide what bulb will work bust out of their choices, and where I'm in Canada, it's a pain to have to keep ordering things from the US if I don't end up with what I want.

LED Cold Spot Fix

That's the link to the thread I was talking about. Buddy had a cold spot around his 80mph mark and fixed it.

Let me know how you make out.

i used the 74-xhp bulbs. they took a lil bit of shaving the holders but after that they fit fine and work great.

The most straightforward solution would be to install LED strips behind your gauge faces. It requires a lot more work though.

I was thinking the same thing too, but I want red. lol
Im fussy. I know that link I originally posted gave a way to get rid of hot spots, but I don't know how Keen I am on hacking away at the rear of my cluster...
But as of right now, I'm seeing no other option. O welllls. I'll order some LED's soon and give it a go! I just need to see how many LED's are in my climate control so I can change those too!

Random aside - Both superbrightleds and ledautomotive have the dome for a 94-97 accord with sunroof listed as a 31mm bulb. I don't blame them for this inaccuracy as it is apparently mislabeled somewhere else or perhaps just an issue with my car. Everything seems stock, though. I'm pretty sure the dome is a 36mm or maybe even 38mm as the 31mm barely connects and looses connection with a slight jiggle. The 31mm, however, work great in the doors, map lights, and trunk. Anyone know which LED to buy for the dome? Thanks.

I am a sponsor here on hondatech and sell/make custom LEDs and sell a kit for your cluster! They are VERY bright and don't have hot/cold spots. Check out www.facebook.com/lightsonleds to see pictures, and PM me or email me at LightsOnLEDs@gmail.com and I will give you free shipping and the hondatech discount!
