Endyn belt tensioner vs vibrant tensioner.
So I am undecided and need you guys to help me make a decision. I like the look on endyns tensioner, looks to be put together nicer. Also price is alot cheaper. The only thing I dont like is the fact that it doesnt allow for a cam trigger. I think if the vibrant was the same price or cheaper I would go with vibrant for sure. So give me your thoughts on both, thanks.

i was told it's meant primarily to reduce the possibility of the belt to slip/jump cam gear teeth at high rpm rather than setting the tension of the belt....hence OEM timing belt tensioner is still needed for that....i hv one but haven't installed yet so can't really comment whether it really works or not....
I wish I could use one but my cam trigger setup doesnt allow it.I will say that the Endyn tensioner looks much better built and a bit stronger than the vibrant.

I had to design a new tensioner to fit with a customers top mount turbo setup, as neither the Endyn or Vibrant one would work.. Now that it is pretty much completed, I, too, was wondering what to do about the cam trigger that is going on my car.. I am working on a new tensioner that will do both, it should be ready in a month or so.. Here is a pic of the final design without cam trigger mount that I just did a production run of for RC's Garage here in Phoenix..
We run the vibrant one WITH a cam trigger. Works great.
Graig, what cams were you running? We ran the pro1's with only .465" lift on the exhaust and belt goes crazy when you let off the throttle. We never jumped a tooth or anything, but wanted some insurance after seeing that belt whip around like that.

Ok Tony, time to design your version of this. It will he a two in one unit for cam trigger and belt tension. Just send me one free for coming up with the idea. Thank you
That is NOT the solution.. A lot of people have the misconception that tighter is better/safer.. Having your belt to tight will cause you to put deep grooves in your head from the cams and the main bearing can wear unevenly. I see it all to often, people tightening the **** out of the timing belt.. The tenioner is as mentioned above.. To stabilize the belt so there isn't as much slop at higher RPM's.
I have never put any extra tension on my belts... Its been good for 15 years so far. I've seen as high as 12,700rpm on logs with no slip.
I have seen the belt pull the tensioner loose from the belt being too tight.

To OP...I also think the endyn unit is a better built piece.if you want to run a cam gear trigger set up i would say wait until someone like locash releases a unit that works with what you have or would like to use.
I ran my engine in an engine dyno and the belt moves ALOT on the exhaust side and I am supprised that the belt doesn´t jump a couple of tothes more offen and that people doesn´t have more problems with it.
I would like a tensioner like endyn or vibrant that just touches the belt without tensioning it anymore and will stop the movement of the belt on the exhaust side.. I use a crank trigger and powersteering and would love to see one mounted in the AC mounts on the block.. I have never seen one and am making one myself out of a stock tensioner someday..

I have used the Endyn on several cars, including our shop car. Makes a huge difference in belt flex. It does change the degree specs a little bit on the cams you are using, its best to degree with the tensioner installed.

Joe, an all in one tensioner/cam trigger bracket would be cool! I went the crank trigger route partially due to the tensioner assembly already being on the engine.
