Default Shift **** question

I just bought a 2000 civic si. Everything looks stock in the car. looks like No modification was done. the only thing that looks different is the location of shifter. It is slanted forward towards the dash. I have long hands but still have to bend forward to shift gears. shifting is fine and smooth. no problems at all. But the location of shifter is weird. If i move the seat forward then there isnt enough room for my leg. Is this stock set up ? if not then why would someone slant the shifter towards the dash?

Lift the leather and look at the bend. Also, have you driven a B series before? That may be how B series are. It could also be a double bend and they put it in backward.

Just looked at shifter. I has a bend. kinda "S" shaped. The shifter has few curves. I have never driven a B series. is it factory set up? can i change it and move it backward?. (opposite side of dash)

It has a dual bend shifter then. I know all Teg's come with a dual bend stock, I don't know about all B series, however. Which way does the bend go? Toward the dash of toward the trunk? Also, how much play is there in the shifter? Does it move around a lot? Is it crisp? Maybe you just need new bushings.

not all B series come with a dual bend. my b16 in the sol didn't. and according to majestic it should only be a single bend but towards the trunk.

Sounds like the owner installed a dual bend shifter backwards.

This is what I am thinking is the problem as well.

OP, if you could, take pictures of the shifter, minus the leather, for proof.

The bed goes toward the dash(looks like its in 3rd gear when its actuallu in 4th) . i have to bend forward to shift gears. I want the shifter towards the trunk. There is no play in shifter. It doesnt move at all.

The dumbass installed it backward. Wow. Yes, you can remove the linkage and flip it so the bend looks toward the trunk, the correct installation.

Yeah you have to undo the linkage from underneath.

Here is a DIY for installing a short shifter, you would be doing something similar to this.

The stock Si shifter is a single bend.

It sounds like in your car a dual bend shifter was installed backwards.
