sorry to sound ignorant, but what was the reasoning behind cutting them out in the first place? I think something flat rather than dome shaped would look better personally but thats just my opinion...still mostly curious on whats going on with the suspension

OP, why would you cut out the strut towers on a rare care like a db gs-r? Being so slammed to where you have to cut the strut towers is the most idiotic thing ive ever seen.

its because i got 0 offset rims, rolled fenders, camber kit and sliders which made my upper control arms bottom out. its better than wearin out tires.

dome shaped it is then...didn't fully realize why the towers were cut...did you ever think about making the cover removable so that you can get to the adjustment for the sliders? you could always drill a few holes, weld in some nuts and make the dome a bolt on peice

Do you realize that is a structural part of the car and you have weakened the front of your car by chopping giant holes in the strut tower? I vote for dome shaped pieces of sheet metal. Find yourself a local metal fab shop and go from there.

I'm sorry, but if you lower your car to the point where you must weaken its structural integrity, you shouldn't own a car. Not every car has to be slammed y0. And to think this is a gs-r...

just make sure and test your total suspension travel with your new shock towers to make sure they give you enough room. and you should prob post some pics of your teggy.

I might be mistaken but wouldnt the eaisest way to see how much room you need be to remove the suspension and see how far that upper control arm swings?I have to do the same on my car and thats what I plan on doing.

I had to do that on my 96 accord because you cant adjust camber. So I think its a functional mod, it may not be what the masses of people are doing, but I'm pretty sure you can clean up the edge and make it look good.

As for how much is actually weakened no one will really ever know.

You have that civic low though! they look good that way.

The steel used for unibodies does not like continuous welds (HSLA steel). This is on reason why people use stitch welds on a frame. More than likely you or your welder will dump a ton of heat with full welds and weaken the base metal. Then if you grind the welds down, you'll be weakening the weld too.

You might as well leave it open and fab a domed cover to bolt on. Drill holes and tack nuts under them, then bolt a reinforced cover over it.
