Default 89 crx engine codes

I have an 89 crx si, with a b16 swap. obd0-obd1 conversion, p28 ecu. How the hell do i check my check engine light codes? I've been googling and checking the search on here for 3 days and all i found was this:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/how-check-check-engine-light-obd1-crx-2478895/

I don't understand what "jump the connector" or what "CEL" mean. I know there's a wire under my hood that has a piece of tape on the end, and it just sits in my engine bay. Don't know if it's supposed to plug into something, so i just left it alone.

well CEL stands for check engine light. what kind of jumper harness do you have? rywire harnesses use 2 wires (blue and orange) that you connect to make the dash light flash for codes. if you have a boomslang harness like me you have to jump the service connector. i have a 91 which has that under the glovebox. your 89 should be that connector in the engine bay thats unhooked with tape on it. use a paperclip to jump the 2 connections on the plug

I have no idea what kind of jumper harness. I bought my car the way it is and i don't really know much about this stuff.
I'm used to going to autozone, getting a print out, buying the parts and installing them.

So do i connect that wire to the battery then take my dash out and connect the 2 wires for the check engine light together?

yea that autozone deal isnt gonna work here. your car is obd 0. take your dash out? nooo that is not needed. there should be a plug thats not connected on your drivers side shock tower. that is the service connector. is there anyway you can look on your pass side under the carpet and see what harness is there? you should see some green wiring proly. my boomslang plugs are white. rywire is usally black. look for a blue and an orange wire laying round . youll have to connect the 2
