Azenis: Keep 'em in the Closet or Wear them every day?
Hey guys,
I know, I know... another Azenis thread... but I'm ordering them soon and I'm unsure on which size to get. I have two options. I can mount some Azenis on my 14" stock steelies, and use them as autoX/track only tires, or I can get some Azenis for my 15" LS mesh everyday wheels.
A smaller tire is better for autocross, right? For Hondas, at least, because of acceleration? So I guess the question is, in spirited everyday driving, am I going to see enough of a difference to justify spending $300 on tires every 12,500 miles, or should I get some all-season tires for my everyday driving and a set of 14" Azenis in the closet for track days?
Thanks,
Ben

It's better to have a smaller and wider wheel.
Depending on how you drive everyday and how often you race, the choice is up to you.

well... i personally think those azenis tires are cool. the thing is.. they wear out fast and youll probably only use it less than 50% of the time to do any kind of racing or whatever. thats not worth it...
so i think you should get a set for racing.. and a set of some other tires fordaily driving.

Smoke Azenis every day!
I daily drive mine
but I am getting some steelies for the snow and ice and sleet and hail in the winter.

Let's put this into perspective now...
Azenis= best bang for the buck tire, hands down.
If they're great for the autocross and great for the street, why not just use and abuse them and replace them when they're corded?
The more you use them, the better they get anyway!
I have 10,000 miles on my Azenis, and they have about 2-3000 miles left on them. That INCLUDES a few canyon runs per week and another track event.
Get the 15" azenis and enjoy them.

definately a tough call.
It really depends on how many miles you put on the car. Mine is a daily driver 60-80 miles per day. The Azenis, while cheap and good, are a little on the pricey side to be replacing so often.

For me it wouldn't be a good idea since I put on at least 30K miles a year.
Once the CRX is back running, I plan on using the krappy kumho supras for daily and getting real kumhos for autoX, in 14".

what to do what to do...
ehhh they are tires and ment to be used. Thats like saying i dont want to wear my new shoes because i dont want them to get dirty. I think they are actually cheap for the perfomance.
Everyday..
they are NOT really race tires.. they are not even R compounds.

I'd use them everyday. That's what I'm doing right now. They really do last quite a while when daily driven on. I can get a break on the price for them. I used to be able to get them for $120 for two out the door, now it's $100 out the door for two. Guess it's just about knowing people.
