Quest For 12's: 100% OEM GSR Bottom
Ok so heres the deal, we built this car for one of our buddies. Its a 2000 Integra GSR with 146k. We tuned the car with i/h/e and decided we wanted more out of it. The owner swapped heads with a friend and had us put it together and had our tuner work his magic.
Engine Management:
CROME pro street tuned
PLX wideband
Block:
100% OEM GSR block untouched with 146,000 miles
Head:
B16a head, Milled, Lightly ported intake side
JG dual valve springs and titanium retainers
Crower 63402 Cams, gears set to: +3 , -2
BLOX High Flow Header
2.5" straight pipe custom exhaust
Type R Intake Manifold Lightly ported and Portmatched
65mm throttle body
AEM CAI with a velocity stack out of the front bumper (will be upgrading to a 3")
2layer head gasket
310cc injectors
Transmission:
Stock GSR transmission
Exedy Stage1 Clutch
The owner took it to inline PRO in Springfield, VA to see what this build put out, the final #'s were 192whp/133tq. We were pretty surprised on what this thing put out for what it is. especially on a motor with 146k..
We took it out to the track on some Mickey Thompson ET Streets. The owner was launching it too high and only ran a 14.0 that day. He spun way too much out the hole. The owner is trying to break 12's on slicks with a little more weight removed in his DC2 Chassis.
Here is the dyno graph:

Hey im the owner of the car and i gota say im really happy with what these guys did! tuning was good aswell but were retuning again soon with a few intake exhaust mods. Just trying to pull out as much power as we can on the current head/stock bottom end setup.
i can tell u this much, the power that the motor is making is more than enough to get u a 12 sec pass, but with the chasis u got is not a easy task. if u can get the weight down to 2300 with driver then it will be much easier for u.. this is from personal experience, i ran 12's with 180whp in a car that weigh 2270 with me in it.

I have not "officially" weighed the car in yet.. i can just tell you how much weight i have taken out of it (weighed everything i took out) since the the car was bone stock. It does need to lose some weight tho still. i plan on getting skinnies next. then a sunroof plug. it will not be easy i agree, but possible i think well still keeping it streetable
Mickey Thompson 22/8/15 are the way. suspension is somewhat setup for just drag but its not the best. also this car is not a daily. LSD would help but im not sure about, while gearing could help me out i managed a 14.0 with a 2.3 60' and 102mph trap on my only run i got..

Yes this is somewhat a buget build to get into the 12s. So taking weight off is key. if u have any ideas for areas that are heavy on a DC2 leme know. i wana go a dfferent route than just throwing this engine into a hatch. bc i have looked around and there is not many stock block DC2s that have seen 12s and are still streetable.
The only reason i question a LSD is bc i have seen many friends hit 1.8x 60' with an open diff on slicks. and gearing would help but 102mph shows me there is still some topend left for the back half of 1/4
u should be able to cut 1.80's 60ft with what u got, how high are u launching and what psi u got on the slicks?

*Thundernoodle: you are right about the 60' not being good. But this is my point, it was not a good run for me at all and i spun all of first gear and had to lift throttle twice just to grab traction and yet the car still went 14 flat so i know theres a ton of room left to go faster. my mph at the 1/8 was only 79. yet my trap was 102mph... i can shift fine i think.

My LS-vtec put about the same numbers as this build. It made 192 whp and 132 tq. In my 2400 lb Civic SI hatch I was able to run a best of 13.6. Pretty sure if you get that 60 down to 1.7-1.8 and some weight off the car you'll see 12's.
*jdmcivic2fast: the season is over here in maryland and virginia so i have not got to launch on the slicks yet... advice welcomed. i was on MT ET Streets with 11psi in them at MIR the last day of test and tune. 40 degrees out and no sun.. launched at 7k that run and spun all of 1st. and then they closed for the season lol...
