Default Need help on how to do a LS 5th gear into a gsr trans..?

Hey HT

I have a 96 gsr trans and a 97 ls trans. I want to have a ls 5th gear in the gsr trans. Also i have internals from a cable b16 trans an if posible i would love to have a b16 first gear. From what i gathered. The cable b16 trans first gear will work on the main and countershaft of the gsr trans. I have the skills to do this by my self butt i have never went as far as pulling gears of the main/countershafts to replace with other gears/slyders etc. I have switched internals before. Im willing to try this and learn this on a messed up gsr countershaft and mainshaft that has mesed up syncros and the FD is missing a few teeth. After im done practicing i can actualy due it to my good gsr counter/main shaft.

Clifs.
have 97 ls trans
have 96 gsr trans
have cable b16 internals like counter/main shaft
what/how will be neded to do a b16first, 2-4 gsr and ls5th gears on the good gsr main/countershats

Thansk in advance.

1st and 2nd gears are always fixed ratios with each other, as both mainshaft gear halves are part of the mainshaft itself. The cable B16 trans parts won't work with the hydro case, either, unless you're referring to the YS1 trans (these were on a B16 Integra in Japan, correct?). The 5th gear swap is pretty simple to do though.

So you could either do:

GSR/LS 1-2, GSR 3-4, LS 5.

Or if it's the YS1 trans, then:

B16 1-2, GSR 3-4, LS 5.

All i know is that the b16 trans is a b16 cable.......i just loked to se what kinda stiker it has and it has none (i picked it up for free of of craigslist with a blown diff to mess around with and learn how to take apart a trans). I tink to keep things simple i will do the ls 5th gear. From all the reserch ive done so far it looks pretty straight forward and easy. also will be installing a viscous lsd. I will be following this write up on the lsd install and also the ls5th gear.
http://www.xm-parts.com/articles/hgear/gear.htm

Will get back with picks.

Any advice would be nice. First time actualy taking the gears of the shafts.

i thought the 1st was the same, except the ongoing argument of the 99 si had the shorter ratio? any ways, you could just swap over the gsr 2nd onto the ls, along with the rest of the 3rd and 4th gsr. and still have the ls 5th. but you have to swap over both counter and main shaft gears and sliding hub assemblies with the matching shift forks for the gears you swapped over. 1 and 2 gears share the same fork and 5th does as well i believe.
