Water pump OEM or generic?
Just a real simple question, I know some parts it is not worth it to save money not getting it from a dealership or oem site etc. Is the water pump something I should spend the cash on for oem or will the autozone brand for example do just fine? I've never changed one out so I'm going to try and tackle it along with the timing belt. Anything else I should know before I tear it all apart? I've got the b18 in my ED hatch, does anyone have a reliable Acura parts site with good prices and oem stuff? Thanks a ton.
I swear, winter comes and it never fails, one thing after the other just stops working no matter how much prep I do ha ha!

oem.
there are a few things that i'll always get oem. timing belt(unless i can find a Gates belt for cheap), thermostat, oil pump, and water pump.
don't cheap out on the vital stuff.

Awesome, that's what I was hoping to find out. So aside from the timing belt, is there anything else that I should change out while I have everything torn apart for this job?
i forgot what it's called, hold on... should be #20

Well it looks like I can get the oem for like$ 80, that doesn't seem cheap but doesn't seem too high. Does anyone have a solid acura parts supplier for b series stuff?
you can get the water pump from a honda dealer as well. same parts. and the seal mentioned is the oil seal on the oil pump. i wouldnt touch it unless its leaking IMO
Awesome, I figured it would be more expensive at the dealership. You saw my other thread, I'm going to swap the thermostat out before anything else being it's less expensive.
it's a preventative measure. pretty sure the gear pops off, pop seal with flat head screw driver, put in new seal.
kind of like replacing rear main seal when you resurface your flywheel. at least your supposed to resurface your flywheel.
oem on water pump no doubt, its not that high vs some aftermarket rebuilt one! Timing belt is where im stuck as well, im building a turbo b18b got stage 2 turbo cams and supertech valvetrain kit, heads are a lil beefy now. If i was basically stock i would go OEM, but in my case with the stiffer springs and bigger cams will the oem timing belt hold it fine? Or are you just paying for the name of say skunk2 or toda?? Dont mean to try to jump on your thread,no disrespect intended!
