Default FuelMax tires okay for winter?

Hey guys, my fianceé needs new tires and the Goodyear FuelMax tires seem like a good idea for fuel mileage, but we just moved to Kansas City, MO and I don't really know anything about what tires you need for snow. Would these work? or should I go with true snow tires, or all-season?

Any help would be great.

If youre going to be driving in snow, get snow tires. You could put them on a cheap set of wheels like the stock steel ones, then get some summer tires (for temps above ~35 and wet or dry weather) and put them on a nicer set of wheels, or just get them switched when the seasons change.

The Goodyear Assurance FuelMax is an all-season tire. Here's what they say about them on the Tire Rack website:

Winters in KC are fairly mild, with an average of 20 inches of snow per year, about the same as in our nation's capital. You might be able to get by with all-season tires all year round, including light snow in the winter. If you get a big snowstorm, they won't grip as well as true winter tires, but if you can stay home or have another transportation alternative, that might not be a problem for you. The FuelMax is not a performance tire and won't grip as well as some of the higher-performance all-seasons, but if you're looking for value and long treadlife, they might be a good choice for you. You could always call the Tire Rack and ask their knowledgeable salespeople if it's the best for your needs.
