Default all motor GSR block B16 head questions...

I've decided to do an all motor build on my new crx and had some questions..

Here's what i have to work with-

GSR shortblock fresh rebuild with eagle rods and arias 9to1 pistons, lightweight flywheel

Was going to sell the 9to1 and get high compression pistons

B16 head cpl thousand miles on rebuild- skunk 2 springs and retainers, unknown cams with aem cam gears, aebs intake mani, spoon ventuli plate, aem fuel rail, blox 68mm tb also have itr tb, dc 4-1 header. also have a set of 880cc inj

Was going to sell the cams and get something big

I'm going to be running e85, and its barely ever going to get driven (at the track and maybe once and a great while) so streetablity isnt too much of a concern, and i love lopy idle, lol... I was wondering what compression pistons would be best and what cams (dont want to worry about valves hitting pistons...) And what size injectors i'd need to use with it (just keep the 880s or go smaller). I'll be converting it to OBD1 and running a chipped p28

I was also planning on running a XSi trans with LSD

I hope you plan on going boost, that's what your motor is set up for. I'd bet you'll be under 9:1 compression so "big cams" will not be a good choice for you period. You never told us what your intended use for the car is (what type of racing) you plan on doing. You will need to change a few things if all motor performance is what you're after and you want to make good power.

I stated in the first post that's whats in it now and that i'd like to take the 9-1 out and get high comp pistons, i just dont know how high i should go. It'll be mostly a show/drag/auto-x car... most it'd get driven on the street would be to a local show or the track nearby or maybe a quick spin around the block...

11.5:1 compression will get you to 200whp or just over with the right supporting parts, 12:1 - 12.5:1 would probably be where I would aim.

I would go for 12:1 or higher for an all motor track car.

Id go with the GSR head and go high compression all motor if i was you boost is more maintenance and more money the gsr head is the way too go, look at the combustion chamber its quenched which is awsome for all motor b16 head sucK go big or dont at all .

I was thinking about running CTR pistons in it, would that be a good choice? If so what cams would go good with them?

GSR head and CTR pistons dont go well together, if you use CTR's use a PR-3 head.

pct's (ctr pistons) are not reccomended for the use with a p72 head, the piston to deck height is like 0.006'' basically youre smacking the pistons on the head without 'technically' touching. besides that youre compression would be up around 13:1 - 13.5:1. but like you said its not a dd. with the help of higher octane fuel (e85) you will eliminate the piston slap and it will be beast. the 880's might be a little much but then again it takes 40% more e85 to get the same burning rate as 93 octane gasoline

p72 block
pct pistons
pr3 head
itr cams

there ya go

ITR cams would be a waste in a build like that. pro 1-2's, BC4's, M22xx profiles would be a better choice.
