Gas Tank Overfull?
Hey guys,
So last night i went to the gas station and put in $50 gas in my accord which sent the needle from rock bottom to above the full line. I even threw in some octane booster to clean out the valves etc. So after leaving the gas station i noticed my car was moving rather sluggish and wierd. I came to a stop light and decided to test it, and low and behold, i floored the gas taking off in 1st gear, yet...it took the needle about 5 seconds to rev past 3000rpms! like it was carrying a load or something. After some driving and stressing about whether or not something is wrong with my car, the gas eventually went down below the full line a little and since then the car has been fine. Just wanted to double check if its possible i put in too much gas resulting in this dilemma, or could it be something else? Any info greatly appreciated.

Did you add the octane booster to the tank first, then fill up with gas or the other way around? If you did it afterward, it's possible the octane booster wasn't mixed enough with the gas and not diluted enough, with more of it getting sucked up by the fuel pump initially to cause your car to not run well.
Sounds like you kept clicking the gas nozzle a few too many times when filling up.
When you overfill your tank you fill full the evap system. Your tank is designed to have abit of air at the top for expanding and contracting, and to collect vapor's.
You just filled the evap system with fuel and when you were driving the motor was pulling straight fuel into the manifold instead of vapor.
You can ruin the evap system by overfilling the tank. The gas nozzles cut off for a reason, don't overfill.

Agreed, never put more gas in after the pump clicks off.
Secondly, whenever adding additives, always add them when the tank is nearly empty when you are in the gas station. Then fill up.
Third, don't use octane boosters. They leave harmful deposits and there is ZERO point in increasing octane on a NA car. The only additive I sometimes add to my fuel is fuel injector cleaner, HEET, or Marvel Mystery Oil.
