ST Drop Fork help and questions
whats up suspension gurus. my question is does having drop forks have anything to do with my upper arm hitting my shock tower? Im assuming it would give me a bit more travel? reason I ask is because my setup before, i was sitting alot lower and never had issues of hitting the shock tower.
old setup
ground control with tokico whites
205-50-15
new setup (didnt go as low as setup above so added drop forks)
function and form coilovers
drop forks

thats what i was thinking. i dont remember the spring rates of the GC they were soft though, i believe they were OTS rates. the FnF is 10k 8k. its alot stiffer then the GC thats for sure. what i dont get is i was alot lower with my GC setup without the drop forks and i never hit the shock tower.

I dunno, maybe lose the forks and adjust the F&F's so you're at the same ride height, and see if the UCA's still hit? Why did you install the drop forks anyway?
well when i first installed my FnF coilovers i couldnt get it to the height i wanted. their was about a 1 finger gap up front. so i installed the forks and raised up the coilovers to make a difference in height.
i sat way lower with drop forks and FnF coilovers raised up but i was hitting the shock tower. now with stock forks and FnF coilovers all the way down i dont hit the shock tower. i dont get it?

Sounds like they are doing what they are supposed to do, give you more travel.
Were you adjusting the height of the FF by the preload collar?
The drop forks lower the car without losing any suspension travel just like adjusting the bottom mount of the coilover. When you put them on you are 1.5" lower with the same travel and your a-arm is going to be able go much higher.
So if you raised the height back by the preload collar, you would be gaining back even more shock travel lost by lowering with the preload collar.
If you raised the car by the coilover lower mount it cancle out the effect of the Pro Fork and it would be the same as before they were installed.

hmm yeah actually, with the drop forks I think your UCA is likely to hit before the suspension hits its bumpstop, kind of like when you switch to extended upper mounts.

i bottom out on the shock with the FF coilovers (adjusted higher) with drop forks. but whats weird is i dont bottom out on the shock tower with FF maxed out all the down.
