Default early gen. Greddy muffler rusted apart- Recommend a good replacement??

I've had one of the early generation Greddy exhaust on my 94 integra for about 4.5 years now, and I've been really happy with it. It has the larger can with the slightly-megaphone tip with rolled edges.

what happened was that the input pipe rusted *inside* of the unit, causing it to break off the muffler! It seems to be beyond repair. I thought the muffler was stainless steel throughout! I guess I was wrong.

What I liked about the muffler was that it had a straight through design while being quiet. Any recommendations for a similar replacement?

Thanks...

Nope! I've had it for about 3.5 years. Bought it new.

Just got off the phone with Greddy.. despite being stainless inside, they're designed to last about 4 1/2 years. What a coincidence...

Apexi N1, huh? How loud is it without the silencer? I liked the deep sound of the Greddy...

I had the same problem, not once but twice!
Now I have an Apex WS, sounds close to stock
and looks like the Greddy SP.

hey the EXACT same thing happened to me... on the exact same exhaust.. its a Trust B/L / Greddy SP... I had that exhaust since mid 90's (like 95) and first the resonator on the B-pipe/mid pipe rusted out.. I called Greddy in Irvine and they said they don't sell just the b-pipe only whole exhaust systems ... so I took it to a muffler shop and had them chop off the busted/rusted resonator and weld on a new one.. worked OK then about 3 yrs after initial purchase... the same thing happened to your exhaust.. the pipe inside the muffler rusted/broke and my exhaust started blowing out the fiberglass/composite cubes..

at first I didn't know what the hell it was.. just that my exhaust/muffler had a rattle and there were these tougher than cotton ball.. but cotton ball (Cube) looking things all over my garage.. then I looked INSIDE the muffler.. and saw that the piping could move/broke off.. and there were those composite cubes (that were all over my garage floor) inside..

I replaced it w/ a Greddy Evo.. I'm going on my 2nd year w/ the Greddy Evo.. no problems so far..... next time around if I still have the car I'm going to try a Mugen Twin Loop...

well for a similar replacement.. they still make the Greddy SP I believe.. you can get that again.. or an Apexi WS (World Sport)...

EXACTLY SAME THING, and exact same cat back..the TRUST...... things kept flying out of my muffler, then all of the sudden one day, my car got crazy loud like i was running no muffler, took it off, the muffler itself was weightless and empty w/ a pipe just jingling inside. But then i found a greddy sp cat back system used for one month for $120, so i thought this was cheaper than getting any other cat back.

The ES oval is good. I had one when I had my Accord, and it held up great and sounded good too. Plus, I got a lot of " How'd you get that stock exhaust to sound so sweet..." kind of stuff from people not in the know.

You can get the es tuning muffler at http://www.jdmhondaparts.com for $89/2.25in or $99/2.5in. check the special page link.

Heres a pic of my es tuning 2.5in muffler painted flat black:

I'm big fan of the DC Sports cat back.

Fully polished stainless steel. Will not rust. Will outlive your car and has a great sound.

My favorite aftermarket exhaust on the market so far.

I'm replacing my greddy soon with that or Apexi WS, the N1 is too loud.

Go to your local, reputable muffler shop and have them do some custom 2.5" (mandrel bent if at all possible) exhaust piping and put the ES on.

Won't outlast the car, but will damn sure outlast the warranty. I really liked the DC till the muffler and resonator rotted out. There were large holes in the side walls, inside both. I guess I got my 5yrs out of it, just got magnaflow pieces for replacements on whats left of the DCSS catback.
