bad steering wheel shake

Default bad steering wheel shake

when ever i get to 60 mph or over the steering wheel starts to shake alot also it does it sometimes when im sitting at a stop light for a while. could the tires be out of alinement or be unbalanced? is it ok to drive it like this? the car is a 1989 crx si

Your alignment/balance should not cause the steering wheel to shake at a stop. At speed, yes, but not at a stop. I would check the motor mounts.

I agree, it sounds like you have two issues. Mounts and alignment/wheel balance

thanks guys ill get it checked out. i read some where else it might be the rotors?

This is only the case if it shakes when you are braking if so your rotors are warped

The shaking at 60 and at completely stopped are not related. If you mean shaking at slow speeds, then you have an out of round tire. A blister, flat spot or wheel not completely flush,

You should look into replacing the rack end bushing to fix the play in ur steering.
