Numbers on the bottom of the transmission?

Numbers on the bottom of the transmission?
Are they just random or are they the date the trans was built? Mine says 2 . 27 598. I thought maybe February 27th 1998 since its a 98 transmission. IDK what the 5 means though lmao. Maybe I am just putting useless random numbers and thinking they have a purpose.
