Painting the fender
I tried to find the thread on this, but to no avail. I just bought a fender and I need to paint it white. Where do I start?
-I have the two cans of Duplicolor tafetta white 8oz paint.
-What color primer do I need? I bought Krylon indoor/outdoor gray because I couldn't find anything else.
-Do I need to sand on a new fender?
-What's the drying time?
-How many coats of primer/paint?
-etc.
Thanks in advance.

yes u need to sand. the cans u have will advise you on what grit to use.
since you are using rattle cans, all i can say is use the amount of coats that you need (however much it is) to achieve what it is you're looking for
Its a new or used fender?
Most new fenders come with a coating that youll want to sand down because its pretty textured. I DA them down with 400 and scuff any edges. Then give it a coat of sealer and then base. White sealer would work best. I suppose since you dont have sealer i guess you could try priming it then sanding the primer down and baseing it.
Used just sand it down and spray color over it if theres no bodywork.
Also, I assume you know this but you didnt list it so I'll post it just to be sure. Youll need clear as well.
And dont expect the fender to match your other paint perfectly.

2. Grey primer will work perfect since you're painting the fender white
3. Yes you need to at least scuff up the fender. I normally use 180 grit or red scotch bright pad
4. Depends on how hot/cold it is outside, but normally about 10-15 min, but since you're using rattle can paint, you can probably spray sooner between each coat
5. Enough to cover the whole fender
6. Ect...
