From the looks of it, that car stopped being an Integra a LONG way back...

I dn't know, the sway bars are pretty small, and the thing looks like a 4x4 with all that gound clearance.

I think, its kind of adjustable. I'm not positive.
Notice the front steer?
Notice the shop rags over the brake and clutch resivoirs?
No over priced spoon crap for me.
Easily, the coolest rims EVER. EVER!

The only thing OEM on that car is the valve cover
All of those trans am cars are tube frames, Im not sure why they even bother calling it an "Integra" or "Corvette". Well, there is a little thing called sponsorship, but other than that.

Actually its a GT car. But toob frame none the less. You should have heard this thing, the only way to get it rolling was a clutch dump high on the tach. Lump lump screammmm. Stall. Repeat until hot grid. It didn't place too high of a finish position though. Stinkin Toyotas.

My fault, it is a GT car. I was thinking GT-1, which is usually the same as trans am. Anycase, here are some pics of some GT cars from a club race @ Sebring back last Dec.

That's just the logical end that gets reached in 30 years of evolution of "production based" race cars. Originally, the SCCA "Sedan" classes were a lot like IT or ECHC are now but gradually, the rules got more open - or were opened by creative interpretations. A great example was in the '70s, when someone decided that a "lightened and/or reinforced suspension arm" could be lightened away to nothing and "reinforced" from scratch. At the end of the '70s the sedan classes became the GT classes and the FWD cars became some of the most complex, expensive club racing cars of the period. The gearboxes were particularly outrageous. The last iteration tried to revert to more of a stockcar philosophy, allowing "off the shelf" tubeframes. The FWD cars were allowed to put the listed engine in longitudinally and run a ministock type third member. As trick as that car looks, it is a HELL of a lot less expensive to build and run than it would be if it were a ship-in-a-bottle, tubes-in-the-stock-shell chassis with a transverse engine package.

I'll say it's an evolution of a Production based car! I can't imagine what it would take to convert my FWD front motor to a RWD front motor with the factory unibody. Practically IMPOSSIBLE. Can't believe the next logical step up from an F Prod Civic would be to tube it, change it RWD and go racing. IMO.
