Default whats wrong with this setup ?

B series - 13-1 compression
84x89
Eagle rods/ weisco pistons
GSR head - just a line of sight port job....nothing crazy...Head is also opened up to 84mm
Crower springs/retainers......supertech valves
Comp cams 57300's
Victor x manifold.........with a 65mm T/B
SSR street sweeper header
Fluidampr puller
MSD Digital 6
Type R 4.78 trans
Hondas S300

Runs Q16......Made 225 and 151.
Does this seem like normal power #s for this setup. My guess is the cams and/or the head

1 thing I can say for sure....its defently not the tuner.
What do you guys think ??? Also car was tuned with the iceman headlight scoop on

seems like the head is holding it back, with the power its putting out seems like the head is flowing like a stock head.

I just looked up the specs of those cams and they dont look like bad cams, they should still make good power. I would get a larger TB and portmatch, 68-70mm. What kind of air intake/exhaust is on it? It does seem like the numbers are a bit low for the setup, and I blame it on an obstruction of airflow.

The head needs work, it flows "kinda" like stock. A stock gsr head flows around 255cfm @ .500 lift according to ALANIZ chart after converting the 153.14cfm @ 10" of water to 28" water.

your GSR head flows about 259cfm @ .500 lift 28" water
259cfm x .256= 66.304 x 4 = 265.216 HP
265.216HP x .15% = 39.7824
265.216HP - 39.7824 = 225.4336whp

note that this is only a rough estimation
hope this helps out!

so what your saying is the power is not there because of the head flow...

yes, according to the calculations

a stock head flows about 255cfm @ .500 lift and has a potential power of 220-223whp

I was leaning towards the cams...

Option 1...... slap the pro3s in
Option 2 ..... keep everything the same and just have the head ported
Option 3 ..... pro 3s with the ported head

I'd personally try the cams first. It just makes more sense to me. Whichever way you choose, the head should be ported in a build of this caliber.

But a dyno sheet would help narrow down the problem.

Why don't u take it to the track and see what it traps. You see alot of 220-250whp cars that barely break 110mph for w.e. Reason. Yet other cars Have awesome trap speeds for the amount whp they produce

Skunk2 pro3 Intake dur/lift 277/13.0, Exhaust duration/lift 284/12.4

Comp cam 57300 Intake dur/lift 290/12.9, Exhaust dur/lift 296/11.9

Not sure how much gain you'll see @ peak Whp between the 2 cams.

Theres a LOT more to cams than duration/lift numbers.

of course, these are just basic principle of camshafts. to the OP, start with what your budget allows you to do, but imo u cannot go wrong with proper head work!
