Default New 18' rims and suspension lowering springs.

I would like to get a set of 18x8.5 wheels. What off set would i need to use for them to fit just right?

Also lowering springs? Can it be done right? I am looking at a small drop. May be 1.3-1.5 in the front and 1 inch in the back. Thank you for your help. Point me to the FAQs if i am asking stupid questions.

EDIT: it does not let me edit signature.... so here is my car: 2004 LX SEDAN. 70k miles.

absolutely, only in the rear or youll be chewing through tires all the time. even if it is only a mild drop. id rather spend ~100 on an inglass camber kit then go through tons of tires.

and once you drop it, get it aligned drive for like a month or 2 then go get your alignment checked. Sometimes the springs have to settle and ****

what would be a recommended drop? i am getting 18's with 40 profile tires so the tires will remain same size as compared to stock, only a larger rim.

get a rim that is 18x8.5 with +35 offset, 225/40/18 tires. You will be set, they will be flush but not super flush, you will be good with a moderate drop

would a 18x7.5 rim with +35 offset be flush as well? Is it only the offset that matters right?
