ok so i bought a civic hx with 200k miles it drove good until i hit 35-40 mph then it started slipping i checked the trans fluid its clean so now im half way home it didnt go no were the D light on the cluster started to blink so i tow it home i let it rest for a day then i start it and it tries to move but barely and it makes a noise like squirting fluid and effect the rpm a little bit i wana kno if anyone had this problem because i have a torque conveter but i dont wana do all the labor and it ends up being the trans but the trans did jerk or shift hard its weird so one help me before i break my back in the cold weather thanks..

 

also it smells a bit like brake fluid a little when the car warms up

 

Tranny is probably bad, HX trannys were notorious for going bad. You can either try to find another one (they're rare and expensive, they aren't a regular automatic like the rest of the civics, they're a CVT) or you can swap in a 5 speed.

I'm in the same boat as you...I just bought an HX as well and the tranny took a poop. I'm going for the 5 spd swap, but still got a lot to learn before I do it. If you find anything useful on doing the swap please post it on my thread or pm me. I'll do the same if you need help with anything.
