Default South NJ Region AutoX with Subaru of America as Sponsor.

For those who didn't attend it was a fun event (well fun if you won money ). The course was setup so that the people going too fast would get into a crunch into the next section, and the people who were too slow got behind. You had to use speed carefully and in the right places.

Course started out with a sharp left into a 3 cone slalom, into a two cone gate right hand turn which you had to take slow or you would overshoot the 2 cone gate in which you had to come back for. Through another couple cone gate right hand turn. Which lead into 2 two cone gates (offset a bit), then into a pair of 6 cone gates offset of each other into a 4-5 cone slalom. Once out of the slalom you had to turn right and shave off a bit of speed so you wouldn't overshoot the
pointer cone. Once pass the pointer cone you enter a series of two cone gates and into a huge Chicago box and to the finish line.

Well I took home 3rd place in PAX and 1st in STS along with $75 from Subaru of America The competitors were tough and I wasn't having good morning runs. I keep tailsliding and oversteering causing me to be all over the place (best run was a 49.xxx). I'm not used to running with 1/2 tank of gas. So on my last run of the morning I pumped up the air pressures all around by 3psi. And it worked. My times drop to a 41.003 by our last run in the morning.

Afternoon times I got faster and faster and by my last run had my times down to 40.5 with almost hitting a seagull

This was enough for 1st place (by .3 seconds) and 3rd in PAX for money money

Yeah, It's was a cool event and I love the Camden lot. My best times were 41.5 and 41.4 +1 cone. It was very nice to get 7 runs for a change.

And again I didn't have time to run over and say HI! to ya, Chris. you looked good out there. That course was a win or loose course What do you have done to your car again?

I actually went all for nothing on my last run and just kept the pedal pressed down through the slalom and through the gates before the finish line

Results are up now.... http://www.autox4u.com/2002results/9222002sjr.htm

What do you have done to your car again?
Well I think I have a similar setup to yours, just in a 97 Hatchback. 99SI engine and brakes, Panther plus pads, koni/Ground Control, Comptech rear sway/tie, Azenis and bolt on's.

I'm still learning and know I can get faster with practice. I thinking I may do the Evolution school next spring.

Yes definitely do it. It was the best mod I spent money on. I shaved off 2 seconds on a 30 second course. And as you can see from this past weekend it helped me win money

If you ever show up to our region would you mind if I drove your car?

Yeah, no problem. I'd love to get some feedback on my setup.

Not to brake up the conversation, but I just thought I would mention that I totally regret not going to camden. For some reason, I went to Nazareth! It blew as usual, well not as bad as the Boeing lot, but still blew regardless, literally. The first heat took what seemed like 2 hours. One of those funny looking go carts decided to blow up and leave a couple of cylinders on the course. And someone decided to take out one of the timing box's, blowing another half hour. This all on a day that we were scheduled to get 6 runs. Well that turned into 4.One good thing was that there wasn't too many guys running SM, so I managed a second place. Not too bad for my setup.

Anyway, I think that Im going to stop running Philly region and move to Jersey's North and South Regions. The Camden and Etown lots are much better and they seemed to be more organized.

Last weekend some of us went up the the New York Regions two day event. Man, that was a blast. Two days of 8 runs a day. And the course was so fast. I was tapping the second gear limitter in two spots.

Anyway, congrats on winning some $!

Congrats Mike on the STS win and the Subaru money! You drove really well in the afternoon and deserved the win. I on the other hand need to practice my 2-1 downshifts because my lack of doing so cost me time in the finish.

I have no problems with a slow, tight course... but let the course flow. I felt this course didn't flow too well considering the space available to them. And the fact that the course designer just got back from one of the best designed National courses (Babb's) and could have learned something from one of the worst designed (Gendron's), I was expecting a "treat" when all I got were "empty calories".

Oh well. There's always Oct. 12.

Crap happens. You just have to expect for things like that. We had a late start too due to (I heard) computer problems at 10am. The only thing I don't like about the SNJR is the A/B heats. It feels like you are out there for an eternity meanwhile I know people who didn't work in the morning or didn't work in the afternoon - while some of us worked both.

We had our fair share of timer explosions from cars loosing it at the finish line.

Tony - you looked great out there too. Sorry to steal the limelight away from ya. Now I know why you have been beating me these past couple of years You push that 5th Gen Civic to the max. You are down about 30-40hp but only a few tenths away from me Just goes to show.....

I'm glad I didn't do anymore "drifter" moves for you guys in the afternoon. And I figured out two small sections on the course that got me to go faster. Just llike at our Evolution School: right after the start going into the slalom if you went past the two cone gate a little bit you could actually drive straight through the 4 cone gate just missing the outside cone on your left side and connect with the next corner which should flow into a right hand turn through the two gates.

Then at the other side of the course after the slalom you could do the same thing I did that twice for my low 41.000 run and my 40.5xx run.
