Coilovers?!?
Hey guys with an eg hatch, I wanted to know what you guys thought ....I'm looking to upgrade my very much needed suspension to some coilovers. I was looking into some ksports because I've read some good reviews on them and they aren't very pricey... My buddy says I should just go with blox....however he has stance gr+ I think..I just want your guys first hand opinion on these coilovers....thank you guys for your help
about a year ago I was considering getting some K-Sport coilovers for my car but in the end decided to stay away- I've read a bunch of times that they are pretty junky. I can't exactly judge since I've never had them myself, but chances are a lot of people who love them never really had any other coilovers and therefore can't compare the K-Sports to something else.
I also imagine it depends on your style of driving, and again the style of driving of the people who love or hate them.
Keep in mind: you get what you pay for. K-Sports are pretty cheap and there must be a reason for it.
I've had Tanabe S-0c Type 1's on my EG and I liked the feel of them, but hated the fact that I couldn't adjust the dampening. I've also had Koni Yellows with Ground Control springs. I really liked them and they are nicely priced too. You'll hear a lot of good things about that combo.
In the end, you probably can't go wrong. Some are better than others, but unless you are racing the hell out of your car, you won't feel much difference. Make sure they have adjustable dampening and I guess the only thing to consider is reliability. Read up on whatever you're interested and see if they last.
good luck!

My budget was set at $1k because I know cheap isn't the best and to get something good I'm going to has to spend a good amount of money, I threw in the stance gr+ because my buddy has an eg with them and damn that this handles like a damn race car, perfectly stiff and body roll is almost unheard of ....my other buddy has a dc2 with some teins ....that setup is ok but I like stiff x) I've heard blox are ok but hey don't last very long.....if I'm going to invest money in coilovers I don't war to be replacing them every year I'd be better off buying a dope set ....know what i mean....are buddy clubs made in the us? I don't know much about those....
$1000 will get can get you a good suspesnion.
Koni/gc is what i would say.
What is your overall plan with the car? Is there any other suspenison modifications?
I would highly reccomend searching, and just looking around to see what others are runing and how they like them.
Bushings, sway bars should also be considerd.

if I had $1000 I'd get AMR. or Koni GC
Lifetime warranty.
The ONLY options to consider cheaper than $1000 in my ranking order are:
Koni/GC
Progress CS-II's
Buddy Club N+
Function & Form
And that's it.

Yes I've heard good stuff about type II's also and have been considering them, I would like to get into road racing but I also like that stiff as hell feel. Future mods: front camber kit, front 3pt strut bar, rear 4pt strut bar, f/r lca's, sub brace and f/r sway bars

So I am either set on getting k sports because they will be my first set of coilovers and I want to feel them for myself.....or if I can find a nice priced set of type II's then I'll get those. Thanks for all the advice guys! Oh and has anyone tried the 3pt strut brace?
Road racing isn't in the near future unfortunately due to budget so I'll have to wait on the dope sets of coilovers :/ I accept donations .....cash or credit i don't discriminate x)

I *really* think Koni/GC would be a better choice than KSport.
Lifetime warranty to original owner on all parts, unbeatable quality and customer support, choice of spring rates, adjustable rebound damping. What more could you ask for in a ~$800 setup? No it doesn't have separate ride height and preload adjustments, but really that doesn't matter if you don't ride around super-slizzamed y0!

I agree with above, from what have seen ksports will set you back $700-800, and koni/gc is $800.
Get the quality stuff the first time, and you won't be replacing anything for a LONG time.
If I am not mistake patrick has 8-9 years on his koni's.

One of the drivers we sponsor was previously on a Koni/GC setup, and after switching to Ksport coilovers has continued to set better and better lap times. He just took 1st in Unlimited FF at Super Lap Battle.
Are the coilovers he was using off the self? And alvaible without any custom orders, valving, spring rates?

That post is somewhat misleading by itself. Without knowing the spring rates of the guy's setup before and after, it's hard to really say for sure that Ksport is better than Koni/GC. I'm sure a Ksport setup with 400 or 500 lb/in springs would handle better than a GC standard kit with 250 or 300 lb/in springs. But will they last as long as Koni/GC?
98 civdx- Yep. The 1st set he tried were just plain Kontrol Pros with stiffer springs. He's since moved on to some Version RR dampers with (I believe... Could be mistaken) 18kg/mm front/16kg/mm rear springs. Even this setup is something anyone could buy.
I don't know the details of his suspension prior to switching to ours, but he's been competing in road racing/time trials for some time now. I'm sure he spent a good amount of time getting his Koni/GC setup dialed in.

All of our coilovers carry an 18-month warranty against manufacturer defects. Improper installation is not covered. All of our warranty terms are included in our Installation Manuals that come with the coilovers.
Of course. The Kontrol Pro is actually our entry-level coilover. It will definitely handle track use, and does pretty well, but it's also great on the street.

18 months VS tried and true life time warranty. Hmmm that's a tough one!
