Thinking about Buying a Honda
- our V6 has burned about a 1/3 qt. between changes since new
- VSA modulator had to be replaced as it was introducing air into the system
- clutch master cylinder squeaks and has a crunchy feeling to it
- brakes are grabby and have quite a bit of squeal until they are up to temp
- rear pad wear, which is well documented
I am not trying to suggest Honda does not make a good product, I have a 92 Accord that has been stellar over it's 375,000 miles, as well as an 03 S2000 that delivers on every promise it makes. We are picking up an 02 CR-V tomorrow. The 06 has just not done much to impress me. I cannot say if it is a fluke, a dip or decline in Honda quality. They just seemed to stop making it fun or simple awhile ago. My recommendation would be a 4 cylinder, low mileage older Accord that has been well cared for. You may end up paying a bit for it but anything with 100,000 miles or less should have a lot of life left in it.
i'd say go for the 4cyl, if you're like me and had crappy cars in the past, you want a car with less maintenance as possible. the 4cyl will save you $$$ , no timing belt, 2 less spark plugs to change, and the fluid capacities might be lower than the V6!
