Default MY armrest solution

My civic was looking a little bare and I was starting to wear my passenger si seat down by resting my elbow on it all the time.

Decided to start a project!

Anyways, I used an armrest from a 93 corolla.

I made a bracket that mounted the the seat mounts and another bracket that mounts to the bolt that holds the e-brake cable.

I also made a metal "cup" to hold the thing like the corolla.

not too bad, in my opinion.

I'll be taking it all out sometime and spraypainting all the metal dark blue/gray sometime. the only piece of trim i had to cut is the little piece that hides the bolt for the e-brake cable.

what do you guys think?

its extremely sturdy - 1/4" steel brackets!

yeah, i'm going to take it all apart and spraypaint it. just didn't feel like it today.

no e-brake clearance issues, but pretty close!

it is a tad tall, but better than nothing at all. now to make a cup-holder!

no, not while driving.

i don't know whats up with the seats... the latches are both on the inside! picked them up at a great price and thats the way they were - i just swapped seat pans. don't understand it. the seat pans can only go on one way, can't switch passenger side with drivers side, if i remember correctly and the two rails are different - like i said, i don't know whats up with them. The passenger seat is much more worn than the driver's(the foam underneath - overall, they look good, in my opinion), which leads me to believe the seats were once in the correct positions... or the previous owner had a large girlfriend.

well i'd say it looks ok at best. another honda one would have looked more stock, but this one was free - I took it off my girlfriend's car before she traded it in.

There's actually a center console with armrest that I could buy for $65, but I don't think I'm gonna. I'll just stick with my toyota part, my girl will like the hatch more, make her feel more at home, hahahaha!!

the thing actually came off of my brother's 93 before he sold that one. Those corollas all have like... a little box shaped cup thing to hold stuff - that in itself is a finished product. The armrest piece fits into that cup and is bolted down with three bolts from the bottom inside. So even though I took the armrest, my brother's 93 still looked stock and my girlfriend's 96 returned to stock.

you're right, she basically gave the car away - darn stealerships. And darn females not listening(the mother daughter team) to reason and not doing the research and being easily swayed by the salesman who's job it is to cheat people!

Yes, I am bitter about it - but whatever.

I wasn't resting my arm on the butt part of the seat - I was using the seat back, about halfway up - there's like... an indent, where the little tabs come out and kinda hold you in the seat, you know??

I don't know... like I said, I could have bought one. Or I could have shopped around at the local self serve yards with my fingers crossed... or I could have used something I already had laying around, an hour, and <$10 in materials and end up with a perfectly functional piece. Stronger than stock too.

I think I've chosen the path of least resistance. And cost

Are you offering one? I would like the more stock appearance.
