Warranty on new hondas
My sister just bought a 2011 civic, and she was charged around $2,000 for the warranty of the car (7 years, bumper to bumper). Shouldn't the warranty be included in the price of the car already? If they said: the car "comes" with 7-year warranty...
I my opinion it's not worth the money for a extra warranty, if the car dosn't screw up in the original period it won't screw up after.
Those warrenty's are just a way for the dealer to make a free 2 grand, see if she can get her money back before more time passes, the longer you wait the more you will loose.
I'm not saying the car won't F-up but I highly doubt it, most of those guarantees are worthless IMHO.
I never buy an extended warranty on anything, and I never had a problem I can think of that wasn't covered under the original deal.

I got the same warranty package on my Si, it is a mark up on the original warranty, but it is some peace of mind as well, you can take it or leave it, but it is a judgment call...
I paid $1800ish to extend mine to 78 months/100,000 miles. I put 800-1,000 miles on my car every week so for me it's worth the peace of mind because it will probably hit 100k within the next two years.
The way I see it.....the extended warranties are just like car insurance to some extent......you hope you never need it, but it's a wonderful thing to have if you find yourself in a situation where you DO need it because your existing warranty is already expired.

Eh, I did not buy it but the original owner of my S2000 did.
Transferred it to my name for $50. About 6 months into ownership I developed a starting problem and had a CEL.
Ended up having the starter replaced, knock sensor replaced, and some other odds and ends (forgot). That worthless extended warranty ended up saving me about $1200 worth of parts/labor.

"Honda Care" extended warranty (you can look over the paperwork she signed to see who the warranty is through).
The extended warranty is worth the money. Simple things like window regulators, lock actuators, stabilizer bar links, compliance bushings, tie rods etc Can add up if you do not know how to replace those items yourself.
As stated above the factory warranty is 3yr/36k and 5yr/60k powertrain.
