Default Look what I stubled upon! The saving of a rex...

Joining the army of CRX saviors!

I have always loved Hondas and especially the CRX. I've owned 2; one that was completely stock, and another with a b20 vtec. Since then, I've owned Integras, an RSX, a Z3, an Escort GT, and currently a TL. Needless to say, none have been as special as my CRXs.

I spotted an 89 SI shell about 2 weeks ago and snagged it for $200. The body is pretty straight, and very minimal rust. Engine bay is completely empty. Inside is completely taken apart, with the exception of the dash and headliner. I would say after taking inventory, I have almost a complete interior.

Time to start cleaning up the body and engine bay, and save up the funds for an engine and transmission. I'm hoping to snag a GSR from somebody when the time and price are right, otherwise I'll get a B16 swap from hmotors. As for the body, I don't have plans for paint any time soon. But I would like to get ahold of one of those super-cool EF8 front ends...

These are the very first pics I've taken, from the day I trailered it 2 hours home. I'll get more pics up soon, hopefully this won't be a forever build Please leave your (constructive) comments and suggestions! More pics and progress soon!

-Jacob

oh and btw- this is my "first" post i suppose....I was a previous member back in the day. Good to be back!

Cool. Pics?

Edit: I don't think you need a postcount to post pics. Host them somewhere and then post them like that.

Flickr seems to auto-protect photos. People can see them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/56894755@N06/5248011504/ or you could use photobucket.com to host pics like most people.

Nice pick up btw.

I really like the yellow and it looks pretty much rust free for the most part.

Thanks for the comments and help on the pictures. Yellow isn't my favorite, but it's growing on me

Why, do you believe in that yellow curse?

BTW, good pick up, good luck with the project!

Thank you. Is there a yellow curse? I am not aware of such a thing, but this little honda is anything but a curse!

**UPDATE**
Just bought another yellow shell for $350. Minor wreck in front, but is supposed to be complete other than that. Pics when I get them!

Happy weekend everyone!

Started parting the extra shell....so many extra parts, where to put them all? It's a bit tricky, as it is 2 hours away from where I live. We will be driving down every weekend and shoving as many parts in my car at a time as we can (sorry TL!)....actually I was surprised to find out that I can fit 4 wheels with tires in the trunk lol! Anyway, I will probably have extra parts to sell once I've picked through what I need. Here's a few pics, I've got more on my camera at home.

Crxman2010, where are you at??

I would envy having the extra shell! Though sadly, I wouldn't have the money or the place to put it.

I'm in Dallas. The shell that I just bought for parts is a more complete than the one I'm working on. One might ask "Why not just use the new shell you just bought?" It has frame damage, and the body is just not in the same condition. So after taking all the parts I need, it will more than likely go to the crusher....unless I can find somebody who wants it. I don't want to play with the frame

I hear ya. If the frame is bad, then why bother using it.

Speaking of which, if you have some extra trim parts and side mirrors that are good and you don't need, I might be interested in buying them off you.

@BarcodeCRXSI - it may be awhile before I figure out what I'm selling and what I am keeping, but there will definitely be extra parts. I'll probably start a sale thread when I'm ready, but shoot me a PM so I'm reminded you got dibs on trim and mirrors

@EE2bitsk - Do you view barbados as a good or bad thing? Either way, it will be Rusto Sunburst Yellow lmao!

@ChR1sCRX - It will be a real test of patience, I wish I could just buy everything now and slap it together!
