1994 Honda Accord Transmission Acting up?
I have a 1994 Accord with an auto trans. I got the car for a good deal because the other owner didn't know that there was a fuse blown and that was the reason for the car was not charging the battery. Anyways when I first got the car of course it wouldn't hold a charge because the #1 fuse was blown which also had to do with the trans/ecu. Anyways before replacing it when the car was in D/drive the D would blink which I know it means its throwing a trans cel code(because the ecu had no power going to it). But now that I've fixed that, when the car is in drive the D doesn't light up at all, and all the others P, R, N, D3, D2, D1 all do. I'm just wondering if that means anything? Because it has troubles with 3rd and 4th gears. Sometimes it shifts fine and sometimes it rev's up before going into the next gear. But has never had problems with 1st and 2nd???????????????
Oh and I cleaned out both the shift solenoids and that did nothing. I just read somewere that may help. I also read that the Trans ecu's sometimes go out, but I just don't think that would be it cause 1st and 2nd are fine and it goes back and fourth between the other to gears usually. If it doesn't do it in one it usually slips going into the other gear......

Before my auto tranny died the D4 light stopped working. never thought anything of it.. I guess it was important lol
but yeah I think your tranny is dying. The one they put in the 90s accord is pure trash. Sorry for your loss.. lol you can always manual swap..

I had a 92 with a similar problem. I got a tcm from a junkyard and it cured my issues. I have no idea if this would work on a 94.
If you can cannot read the codes tcu, then replace it.

^this is my next idea cause if not its a new trans which I'm hoping not lol. But I'm starting to think its something to do with the tcm cause it doesn't know which gear to go into when you step on the gas and it needs to downshift. Like it will go to 2nd then straight to 3rd or the oposite sometimes. It acts funny and then sometimes its fine.
Im a "play it safe" driver, if you really dont want to spend a life savings on a new tranny by all means try for the tcm and hope for the best...but like i said, as you dont know exactly what the problem is yet, i would play it safe and get a new tranny incase you end up doing any further damage to your car, therefore putting yourself in more debt$$. Then again....everyone has there own opinion

..Then again if you can afford all of that i dont see why you wouldnt just take out the tranny and make things easier for yourself
Yea I can afford it i'm just lazy when it comes to working on my own cars I already have to replace the clutch in my integra this weekend, its a never ending battle lol.
Like?
Are you sure it's not just the simple delay of engagement and then the drivetrain preloading against a broken rear mount? THUM-THUNK.
Pull the blue two wire connector from under the glovebox. Jumper said connector, turn ignition to ON(not start) and watch for any codes via the ABS, D4, or CEL lights.
