Default 96 honda accord rocker arm seals help

I was having the common Honda Accord issue, oil leaking in the spark plug boot,
Ofcourse the lower ones were not replaced,
Well I removed the valve cover, removed the rocker arm assembly leaving the front bolts in so they would not come apart.
Well I put it back togther 5 times now and 1 and 4 are real loud, not ticking, but knocking on top bad, the car runs great, timing is on, timing belt water pumped replaced last year. My mechanic looked at it for an hour and removed and replaced the same arms again to see if I was stupid,
Well I have him confused
We have looked at the top of the pistons and there is no fresh visible signs of new marks.
Do I need to adjust valves??? or am I just stupid and missing something very obvious?

Any time you remove the rocker assembly you should check all the valve clearances and adjust them accordingly.

When you did the seals, did you back off the valve stem screws or did you just take off the assembly? If you backed off the screws then obviously you'd have to redo the valves to specs. If you didn't back off the screws did you make sure to retorque in the correct formation? You may have bent something in the rocker arm assembly if you didn't.

Rocker Arm Assembly

Removal

1. Loosen the adjusting screws, then remove the bolts and the rocker arm assembly.

Note:
• Unscrew the camshaft holder bolts two turns at a time, in a crisscross pattern to prevent damaging the valves or rocker arm assembly

Thanks everyone,
I removed bolts outside first and then tightened outside going in, first I snugged all down, but not tight, as mentioned I removed 5 times now.
My mechanic is lost also. He removed an replaced them last night, Same rapping.
I used proper torque in order
The car runs great but raps bad, I did let the car run hoping the oil would push up lifters.
No luck.
Tonight I will check all valve clearance, If this does not work
Thursday I will stop by the u pull it junk yard and grab new rocker arm assembly

The over head camshaft F22 engine does not have hydraulic lifters like a push-rod engine. You need to loosen the 16 lock nuts & adjusting screws at the end of the rocker arms.

Has your mechanic ever adjusted the valves on a single over head cam Honda engine before? That is what you/he need to do.

When removing in proper sequence, and this applies to most assemblies, you remove bolts/nuts from the outside-in, and install bolts/nuts from the inside-out.

Kind of makes you wonder the qualifications of the mechanic you have entrusted to help you work on your car...... I'm guessing that he doesn't work on many Honda engines.

I'd still check the valve clearance while I'm at it if I was him.
