electrical problem need advice!
im having a problem starting my car with the starter motor, its a 1991 honda civic hatchback all stock with 252,xxx miles. when i turn on my car i have power everywhere, but when i turn my key to ignition, all my power goes out, which normally is ok as the starter is pulling all current to start car, but none of my power comes back anywhere in my car, so i replaced to starter and solenoid as they were cheaper as a pair than individually, but now i think its really my key switch thats bad. when i took out my old motor and tested it out of car it tested bad as well, so i needed a started motor regardless, my key switch is very sloppy and loose and i can actually turn my stereo on and take my key out, lock the door and stereo will stay on. any advice? im stumped! oh it also has a brand new battery in it as well.
sounds like you may need a new ignition switch! I Believe they are around 60 bucks at the big autozone new or hit up a local junk yard and grab one cheap and test it before spending money on a new on. You wont even have to take the old one out to test it plugs are under the steering column
