Power Seat trouble - 1996 EX I4 with leather
I have a 96, as stated above. It has the full power seats, not just the up/down of the cloth EX models.
The driver side seat has lost the power front/back motor. The fuse under the hood is fine. The up/down is fine. I went to the dealer to ask about getting a new motor, and the parts counter guy showed me the diagram in the part system where it appears that it's all part of one (expensive) assembly.
I have found a cloth full-power seat from a 96 V6. Would it be easier to just remove the seat from the power frame, and swap my existing leather seat on, or just have the cloth seat re-covered with the leather from my existing one? I'm leaning toward the latter. Either way, I'd have to pull the seat (or pay to have it done).
I've searched, but just saw discussions on model trim or open questions on how to replace.

You can do it yourself and yes im almost positive it will work. I have taken my seat apart before to sew it up due to a hole in between two of the panels.
You can remove the seat from the rails (which has the motor) very easily. All you will need is a socket set.
Be VERY careful manuvering the seat out of the car because it is heavy and awkward. I have scratched my car doing this so just giving you a heads up.
also, take off the door trim like the seat belt garnish and the scuff plate because I scratched those too.
like i said.. take your time and it will be a nice little project.
